Bossio studied graphic design in Colombia, and has worked as a freelance illustrator in publishing and advertising industries from 2000. Her board book, El Lápiz was published in English in 2016. [2]

Caldecott Medal Annual U. S. childrens book illustrator award

The Randolph Caldecott Medal, frequently shortened to just the Caldecott, annually recognizes the preceding year's "most distinguished American picture book for children". It is awarded to the illustrator by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA). The Caldecott and Newbery Medals are considered the most prestigious American children's book awards. Beside the Caldecott Medal, the committee awards a variable number of citations to runners-up they deem worthy, called the Caldecott Honor or Caldecott Honor Books.

The Noma Award for Publishing in Africa, which ran from 1980 to 2009, was an annual $10,000 prize for outstanding African writers and scholars who published in Africa. Within four years of its establishment, the prize "had become the major book award in Africa". It was one of the series of Noma Prizes.

Jutta Bauer is a German writer and illustrator of children's books. For her "lasting contribution" as a children's illustrator she received the Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 2010.

Isol Argentine artist (born 1972)

Marisol Misenta, known professionally under the mononym Isol, is an Argentine creator of children's picture books and a pop singer. For her career contribution to "children's and young adult literature in the broadest sense" she won the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award from the Swedish Arts Council in 2013, the biggest prize in children's literature.

Fondo de Cultura Económica is a Spanish language, non-profit publishing group, partly funded by the Mexican government. It is based in Mexico but it has subsidiaries throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

The Noma Prizes were established by Shoichi Noma, or in his honor. More than one award is conventionally identified as the Noma Prize. Noma was the former head of Kodansha, the Japanese publishing and bookselling company. Kodansha is Japan's largest publisher of literature and manga.

The Noma Literary Prize was established in 1941 by the Noma Service Association in accordance with the last wishes of Seiji Noma (1878–1938), founder and first president of the Kodansha publishing company. It is awarded by the Noma Cultural Foundation, the largest single shareholder in Kodansha. The Noma Literary Prize has been awarded annually to an outstanding new work published in Japan between October and the following September. The Noma Prize includes a commemorative plaque and a cash award of 3 million yen. It is one in a series of Noma Prizes.

Noma Bar Israeli graphic designer, illustrator and artist

Noma Bar is an Israeli graphic designer, illustrator and artist, based in London. Bar's work has been described as "deceptively simple", featuring flat colours, minimal detail and negative space to create images that often carry double meanings that are not immediately apparent. Bar himself outlines his approach as avoiding unnecessary detail or decoration that might detract from an image's message, instead aiming for 'maximum communication with minimal elements.'

Mickey Patel (1941–1994) was an Indian cartoonist and illustrator OF books and magazines, as well as a painter and designer. He was born in 1941 in Lahore, which is now part of Pakistan and studied economics at St. Stephen's College, Delhi. In a tribute to Mickey Patel in Outlook magazine, Shobhita Punjia wrote that Mickey "only made it to evening art classes, but was soon drawing cartoons for Shankar's Weekly and Yojana, later trying to make a living by working with advertising firms — Lintas, Thompson, ASP and Clarion". According to Punjia, besides the illustrations he was best known for, Patel also worked as a visualiser and animated film-maker. His work was shown in international exhibitions and he won many awards, including the Noma Concours awarded by UNESCO for picture book illustrations, which he was nominated for three times.

Dar AlHadaek is a Lebanese company that publishes and distributes children's books and magazines in the Arab world. It was found in 1987.

Zhu Chengliang 朱成梁 is a prizewinning Chinese author and illustrator of children's books, often using traditional Chinese painting styles.

The Noma Concours for Picture Book Illustrations was organised by Asia/Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU) supported by the Noma International Book Development Fund from 1978 to 2008. It was an annual competition, ending in 2008.

Gavin Bishop New Zealand childrens book writer and illustrator

Gavin John Bishop is an author and illustrator, from Invercargill, New Zealand. He is known for illustrating books from prominent New Zealand authors, including Joy Cowley and Margaret Mahy. Bishop's first published picture book was Mrs McGinty and the Bizarre Plant, published in 1981 by Oxford University Press.

Gecko Press is an independent publisher of children’s books based in Wellington, New Zealand. The company was founded in 2005 by Julia Marshall, formerly of Appelberg Publishing Agency, winner of the Storylines Margaret Mahy Medal 2021.

Bernhard Jan Boudewijn Ietswaart was a Dutch graphic designer, illustrator and type designer who worked almost 20 years outside his native country, especially in Mexico, Spain and Venezuela. His hand-painted book covers are considered among the best of the genre. The University of Amsterdam maintains a collection of his work.
