Pavel Rahman is a Bangladeshi photographer and Ekushey Padak award recipient.

Early life

Rahman was born on 26 April 1956 in Rangpur, East Pakistan, Pakistan. [1]

Career

Rahman joined the weekly Akota in 1973 as a photographer. From 1976 to 1980, he worked as a photographer in The Sangbad . From 1980 to 1993 he worked at The New Nation. [1] In 1983, he took an iconic photograph of the back of Noor Hossain, which read "Gonotontra mukti pak" ("Let democracy be freed"), during protests against military dictator Hussain Mohammad Ershad. [2]

In 1993, he joined the Banglabazar Patrika as the Photo Editor. He joined the Janakantha in 1994 and worked their till 1997. He joined the Associated Press as a photographer and is the photography adviser of the daily Prothom Alo. [1] In 2008, he won the Pictures of the Year International award, one of seven winners from the Associated Press. [3]

Rahman held a three-day solo exhibition on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Rangpur Zilla School in March 2019. [4] In 2021, he was awarded the Ekushey Padak for photography. [5]

Serajuddin Hossain

Serajuddin Hossain was a prominent Bangladeshi journalist. He was the news and executive editor of The Daily Ittefaq. He was captured from his residence by the Pakistan army with the help of Al-Badr and Razakar. He was not only a prominent journalist, but was also considered to be a good writer and translator. He was very close to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was the first to introduce investigative reporting into Bangla newspaper. During the 1971 liberation war, the country was occupied by the Pakistani army. During this time, Serajuddin Hossain wrote in the newspaper on behalf of the liberation war, and secretly helped the freedom fighters.

Monajatuddin was a Bangladeshi investigative journalist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1997, by the Government of Bangladesh. In 1995, while investigating two boat capsizing events, he accidentally fell into the water from a ferry on the Padma River and died.

Habibur Rahman Milon was a Bangladeshi journalist. He was awarded the Ekushey Padak award in 2012 by the government of Bangladesh.

K G Mustafa was a Bangladeshi journalist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak by the Government of Bangladesh in 1999.

Toab Khan is a Bangladeshi journalist. He serves as the Advisory Editor of the Bengali daily Janakantha. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2016 by the Government of Bangladesh.

Amanul Haque was a Bangladeshi photographer. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2011 by the Government of Bangladesh.

Moniruddin Yusuf

Khalid Hossain was a Bangladeshi Nazrul Geeti singer. In recognition of his contribution in music, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2000.

Mohammad Alam was a Bangladeshi photo journalist. He is a recipient of Ekushey Padak.
