Paynes Bay, Barbados

Paynes Bay, sometimes called the "Platinum Coast", is located on the west coast of Barbados. Many locals believe that it is one of the island's best swimming beaches for both the calm seas of the Caribbean (in comparison to the strong south or east coast surf) and the colorful neighborhood. In recent years, Paynes Bay has experienced significant development, most recently by various foreign speculators who are in the process of constructing condominiums along the bay. [1]

The resort Sandy Lane is situated at the northern end of Paynes Bay, and there are many luxury villas located along this part of the west coast. Paynes Bay also has many restaurants.

It was discovered by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition of 1897-99 led by Adrien de Gerlache. The bay is named for Wilhelmina, Queen of the Netherlands, who reigned from 1890 to 1948.

Sometimes just called "The Gap", Saint Lawrence Gap is located on the southern coast of Barbados along the island's Highway 7. Found between Oistins to the east and Worthing to the west, Saint Lawrence Gap features a 1.5k kilometer stretch of bars, hotels, dance clubs, restaurants, inns, resorts, and shops along a white powdery-sand beachfront. It is situated roughly 5 km southeast of the capital city Bridgetown.

The Platinum Coast is a stretch of powdery white sandy-beach located on the leeward side of Barbados. Located to the North of Holetown. Its area title has been broadened in more recent times to include much of the coastline of the parish of Saint James. The Platinum Coast is a spot consisting mostly of nouveau riche to the country of Barbados. Upscale hotels in the area include the Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane Beach resort where golfer Tiger Woods was married.

Miami Beach, Barbados, near the town of Oistins, is a popular sandy beach in Barbados. It is located on the south coast of the island, with usually calm waters and brilliant sunset views. On its north side is Enterprise Beach, a much more sheltered bay popular with families. Miami Beach is popular with both locals and tourists. Each morning local seniors swim in the sea and exercise on the beach. Also a great break for bodysurfing and bodyboarding.
