Earl of Yarborough is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1837 for Charles Anderson-Pelham, 2nd Baron Yarborough. The Anderson-Pelham family descends from Francis Anderson of Manby, Lincolnshire. He married Mary, daughter of Charles Pelham of Brocklesby, Lincolnshire. Their grandson Charles Anderson assumed the additional surname of Pelham and represented Beverley and Lincolnshire in the House of Commons. In 1794 he was created 1st Baron Yarborough, of Yarborough in the County of Lincoln, in the Peerage of Great Britain.

Charles Anderson-Pelham, 1st Earl of Yarborough, styled Hon. Charles Anderson-Pelham from 1794 to 1823, was the founder of the Royal Yacht Squadron. He lived at Appuldurcombe House, on the Isle of Wight, which had been inherited by his wife Henrietta from her uncle, Sir Richard Worsley. He died aboard his yacht at Vigo in Spain in 1846. There are two monuments to him: one at Culver Down, on the Isle of Wight, and Pelham's Pillar at Caistor, Lincolnshire, England.

The school was founded as Caistor Yarborough School on 18 October 1938, and celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2013. Charles Sackville Pelham, Lord Worsley was a British soldier. He was the son of Charles Pelham, 4th Earl of Yarborough and Marcia Pelham, Countess of Yarborough. On 31 January 1911, Lord Worsley married Alexandra Mary Freesia Vivian, daughter of Hussey Vivian, 3rd Baron Vivian and the former Louisa Alice Duff, and sister-in-law of General Haig. Worsley was killed in action during the First World War, aged 27.

Horkstow is a village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England, 4 miles (6.4 km) south-west from Barton-upon-Humber, 1 mile (1.6 km) south from South Ferriby and 9 miles (14.5 km) north from Brigg. It lies on the B1204, and 1 mile (1.6 km) east from the navigable River Ancholme. It is one of the five Low Villages - Worlaby, Bonby, Saxby All Saints, Horkstow and South Ferriby - between Brigg and the River Humber, so-called because of their position below the northern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Horkstow was previously part of Glanford administrative district, and before that, the North Lindsey division of Lindsey, Lincolnshire.
