Hamilton Southeastern School District is the primary school system for students living in Fishers, Indiana and portions of neighboring Noblesville, Indiana. The district consists of twelve elementary schools (K-4), four intermediate schools (5-6), four junior high schools (7-8), and two high schools (9-12). Hamilton Southeastern is home to the Hamilton Southeastern Royals and the Fishers Tigers. Hamilton Southeastern is the fastest growing school corporation in Indiana with 17,140 students in the 2008-09 school year increasing from 10,716 in 2002. Hamilton Southeastern is the 4th largest school district in Indiana. Its schools have very high ratings. Fourteen of the twenty-two schools in the district are four star schools as rated by the Indiana Department of Education. Geist Elementary School was named a 2016 Blue Ribbon School by the US Department of Education, an award only given to 329 schools nationally. The district had a 23.1% higher passing rate on the math/English combined ISTEP+ tests when compared to the state average in 2006-07. Currently the school district is in a lawsuit allegedly over not preventing bullying of one of the students that resulted in a suicide.

Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus was an annual No Child Left Behind test designed by the Indiana Department of Education to measure students' mastery of basic skills, particularly reading, writing, and mathematics. Before 2009 it was administered in the fall; beginning the 2009–10 school year it was administered in the spring. All students in grades 3 through 8 and high school sophomores took the ISTEP+ each spring, with language arts and math covered in each test. Additionally, students in grades 4 and 6 were tested in science and 5 and 7 on social studies. The test consisted of two components: a written test and a Multiple-choice test over the same subjects (April). It was replaced by iLearn in 2018.
North West Hendricks School Corporation is a public school district for the townships of Middle, Union, and Eel River in Hendricks County, Indiana. North West Hendricks School Corporation has operated as a school district since July 1, 1965. The reported enrollment of the NWHSC during the 2015-2016 school year was 1,886. The district has a total land area of 98.4 square miles. In 2011 the district's ISTEP scores increased even further moving it from the 5th ranked school district in the state to the 4th highest ranked school district in the state. The current superintendent is Scott Syverson.

Glenda Ritz is the former Superintendent of Public Instruction for Indiana. She was elected November 6, 2012, defeating incumbent Superintendent Tony Bennett in an upset election, and she took office with a state government dominated by Republicans who opposed her agenda and could block it. Among Indiana Democrats, she held the highest elected office in state government during her term of office. She is the first Democrat to serve in the office in 40 years and the first Democrat to win any down ballot race in the state since 1996.
