Peter Blatch OAM of Brisbane, Australia (born September 17, 1953) is one of 12 elected volunteer members of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. [1] [2] [3]
Blatch has a Master of Education Studies and a Master of Educational Administration from The University of Queensland, worked at Education Queensland as an educator, principal and is a Senior Executive Officer with the Queensland Government in special education and disability services. He is married with two adult children.
Blatch is National Project Commissioner with Scouts Australia. In this volunteer role, he coordinates a variety of activities including adventure, special needs activities, scholarships and Adults in Scouting projects. He is an executive member of the Educational Methods Committee which reports to the World Scout Committee. He was previously National Commissioner for Adult Training and Development, and continues as a Queensland Branch Adviser in Adult Training and Development.
Blatch started as a Cub and progressed through all youth sections to become a Scout leader. He has Wood Badges in the Scout and adult sections. He has been involved in the Brisbane Gang Show for 35 years, 11 of those as producer. His interests in people with a disability and Scouting led him to start Agoonoree camps in Australia, where Scouts invite youth with disabilities to experience Scouting activities. These Agoonoree camps have been in operation in three state branches since the 1980s. Each year Scouts Queensland and Guides Queensland invite about 70 children as guests to participate in a week long camp at Baden-Powell Park, Samford, Queensland. [4]
In 1998, his services to youth and Scouting were recognised when he received the Medal of the Order of Australia. In 2004 he was awarded Scouts Australia's Silver Kangaroo for eminent achievement and meritorious service.
The Order of the Arrow (OA) is the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), composed of Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives as elected by their peers. The society was created by E. Urner Goodman, with the assistance of Carroll A. Edson, in 1915 as a means of reinforcing the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. It uses imagery commonly associated with American Indian cultures for its self-invented ceremonies. These ceremonies are usually for recognition of leadership qualities, camping skills, and other scouting ideals as exemplified by their elected peers.

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is a global association supporting the female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 152 countries. He is, as well, Principal of the Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT).
Sornsawan "Opal" Ho from Thailand served as an elected volunteer member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) from 2012 to 2015, chairperson of the Young Adult Members Group.
In the Boy Scouts of America, a Scout leader refers to the trained leaders of a Scout unit. Adult leaders are generally referred to as "Scouters," and the youth leaders are referred to by their position within a unit. In all Scouting units above the Cub Scout pack and units serving adolescent Scouts, leadership of the unit comprises both adult leaders (Scouters) and youth leaders (Scouts). This is a key part of the Aims and Methods of Scouting. In order to learn leadership, the youth must actually serve in leadership roles.
