Peter Bourke (born 23 May 1966) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon and Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). [1]

Bourke, who played his early football at Mitcham, spent some time at Richmond but was unable to secure senior selection. [2] [3] He was playing for Box Hill when was signed by Essendon and he made his VFL debut late in the 1988 season, against Collingwood. [2] [4]

Fitzroy, a club Bourke had trialled with prior to joining Essendon, selected him in the 1989 Pre-season Draft. [5] He played 13 games for Fitzroy in 1989, five in 1990 and four in 1991. [4]

In 1994, Bourke represented Box Hill in the VFA Grand Final against Sandringham, which they lost by nine points. [6]

Garry Foulds is a former Australian rules footballer who played 300 games for the Essendon Football Club between 1974 and 1989. Described as "a ball magnet", Foulds spent the majority of his career playing on the wing or floating across the half-back line. He made his Victorian Football League (VFL) debut against Fitzroy in round 8 1974, after playing in the Essendon under–19s. he struggled to hold his place in the side before becoming a regular in 1977. Foulds was part of Essendon's Grand Final winning sides over Hawthorn in 1984 and 1985, along with playing in the 1983 Grand Final loss against the same opposition.

The 1898 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Essendon Football Club and Fitzroy Football Club, held in Melbourne on 24 September 1898. The match was played to determine the premiers for the 1898 VFL season. Fitzroy won the match by 15 points. The game was played under atrocious ground conditions, in front of 16,538 people, at the Junction Oval.
