Peter Foggo (1930-1993) [1] was a British architect, who headed the team at Arup Associates which designed the first phase of development at London's Broadgate in the 1980s.

Foggo joined the Ove Arup Building Group in 1959, and became a partner in the new Arup Associates in 1963. [2]

Foggo designed the Horizon Building, a cigarette-making factory on a 45-acre site at the Lenton Industrial Estate in Nottingham for Player's , which opened in 1972, and won the Financial Times Architecture Award for 1973. It is now owned by Imperial Tobacco, and having been granted immunity from listing, [3] demolition began in December 2018. [4] [5] [2]

In 1989, he established Peter Foggo Associates, renamed Foggo Associates after his death. [6]

John Player & Sons, most often known simply as Player's, was a tobacco and cigarette manufacturer based in Nottingham, England. In 1901, the company merged with other companies to form The Imperial Tobacco Company to face competition from US manufacturers. The company also released several series of association football trading cards in the 1930s under the Player's brand.

Tobacco Factory Building in Bristol, England

The Tobacco Factory is the last remaining part of the old W. D. & H. O. Wills tobacco factory site on Raleigh Road, Southville, Bristol. It was saved from demolition by the architect and former mayor of the city George Ferguson and through his vision has become a model of urban regeneration. It is now a multi-use building which houses animation and performing arts school, loft-style apartments, a café bar, offices and a theatre.

The Michelides Tobacco Factory building was an Interwar Art Deco building in Northbridge, Western Australia constructed in stages between the early 1920s and mid-1930s. The building was later known as the Peters Ice Cream Factory and the Tony Barlow Menswear Building. At the time of demolition, the factory was the only extant industrial building in Perth to be remodelled into the Art Deco style.

Horizon Building

The Horizon Building is a former cigarette-making factory on a 45-acre site at the Lenton Industrial Estate in Nottingham, built for Player's, which was designed by the architect Peter Foggo for Arup Associates, opened in 1972, and won the Financial Times Architecture Award for 1973. It is now owned by owned by Imperial Tobacco. In 2015 it looked likely to be rejected for listing, meaning that it would probably be demolished. When the factory closed in March 2016 it was England's last remaining cigarette factory.

Peter Stuyvesant is a brand of cigarettes currently owned by British American Tobacco and manufactured by the American Cigarette Company. In Australia and New Zealand, the brand is manufactured by Imperial Tobacco. The cigarette brand is named after Petrus Stuyvesant, Director General of New Netherland, later New York State, New Jersey, Delaware and parts of surrounding states.
