Deputy sports editor of The Age , for whom he has written since 1995, he has also written for The Guardian, The Sun, The Times, Sunday Times, Daily Express and Today. With a focus largely on cricket, he has won "multiple" media awards in Victoria, including Cricket Victoria's leading media award for his 2009 Why Cricket, the "most outstanding written, photographic, radio or television work relating to Victorian cricket". He has recently created controversy due to an article he wrote about Irish female boxer Katie Taylor which contained several offensive remarks about the Irish. The Irish ambassador to New Zealand and Australia, Noel White, expressed his disappointment and the article was revoked and heavily edited before being reissued.
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, is an Indian former international cricketer who captained the Indian national team. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. Hailed as the world's most prolific batsman of all time, he is the all-time highest run-scorer in both ODI and Test cricket with more than 18,000 runs and 15,000 runs, respectively. He also holds the record for receiving the most player of the match awards in international cricket. Tendulkar was a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha by nomination from 2012 to 2018.
James Peter Stynes OAM was an Irish-born footballer who converted from Gaelic football to Australian rules football. Playing for the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), he went on to become one of the game's most prominent figures, breaking the record for most consecutive games of VFL/AFL football (244) and winning the sport's highest individual honour, the Brownlow Medal, in 1991. Off the field, he was a notable AFL administrator, philanthropist, charity worker and writer.

Allen James Aylett OBE was an Australian rules football player and administrator. He was the chairman/president of the North Melbourne Football Club from 1971 to 1976, and then again from 2001 to 2005. In between, he had been the chairman of the then Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1977 to 1984. Aylett worked as a dentist throughout his career and into his eighties.

Stephen Coniglio is a professional Australian rules footballer for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). Drafted with the second pick in the 2011 AFL national draft, Coniglio made his debut for Greater Western Sydney in the first round of the 2012 season and was later nominated for the 2012 AFL Rising Star award. He was the sole captain of the Giants for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, and a co-captain for the 2022 season.
