Peter Knust (born 14 September 1960) [1] is a retired German swimmer who won four medals in freestyle relays at the European and world championships in 1977, 1978 and 1981. [2] [3]

The 14th FINA World Championships were held on 16–31 July 2011 in Shanghai, China at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center. Karin Brienesse Dutch swimmer

Karin Brienesse is a former freestyle and butterfly swimmer from the Netherlands, who competed in three consequentive Summer Olympics for her native country, starting in 1988. There she won the silver medal with the Dutch 4×100 m freestyle relay team, behind East Germany. Three years later Brienesse won the title in the same event at the European LC Championships 1991 in Athens, Greece.

Mark Andreas Cornelis Versfeld is a Canadian former competitive swimmer and backstroke specialist. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, he finished in 26th position in the 100 m backstroke. He won the same event and the 200 m backstroke two years earlier, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. At the 1998 Aquatic World Championships he won a silver in the 100-metre backstroke, and bronze in the 200-metre backstroke, breaking a Commonwealth record in the process. He was named Canadian Male Aquatic Athlete of the Year in 1998.

The swimming events of the 2001 World Aquatics Championships were held in a temporary pool at Marine Messe in Fukuoka, Japan in July 2001. This edition of the championships featured 20 events for both men and women, including the introduction of a 50 m event in all strokes and equality in the distance freestyle events, with both men and women swimming both 800 and 1500 m.

Jack Babashoff, Jr. is an American former competition swimmer who won a silver medal in 100-meter freestyle at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec. Two years later, he won a gold medal in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay at the 1978 World Aquatics Championships. Jack attended Fountain Valley High School in Fountain Valley, California and the University of Alabama.

Andrea Eife German swimmer

Andrea Eife is a German former swimmer who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics. She won a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay and finished fifth and sixth in the individual 200 m and 100 m freestyle events, respectively. At the 1973 World Aquatics Championships, she won a bronze medal in the 200 m freestyle and a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay, breaking the world record. The next year, she repeated these medal achievements at the 1974 European Aquatics Championships.

Vasily Ivanov is a Russian former swimmer who won silver medals in the 4×100 m medley relay at the 1992 Summer Olympics and 1994 World Aquatics Championships. Andrea Hübner is a retired German swimmer who won two gold medals at the 1973 World Aquatics Championships, breaking world records in the 200 m medley and 4 × 100 m freestyle relay events. She also won a gold and a silver medal at the 1974 European Aquatics Championships. She is a sister of the former professional track cyclist Michael Hübner.

Aleksey Yuryevich Filonov is a Russian swimmer who won silver medals in the 4×100 m and 4×200 m freestyle relays at the 1982 World Aquatics Championships. He also won three medals at the Summer Universiades of 1981 and 1983.

Hans-Joachim "HaJo" Geisler is a retired German swimmer who won a gold and a bronze medal at the 1975 World Aquatics Championships. He also competed at the 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics. In 1972 his team finished fourth in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay, 0.15 seconds short of a bronze medal. Between 1973 and 1978 he won eight national titles, including six in the 400 m individual medley event.

Frank Wennmann is a retired German swimmer who won four medals at the European and world championships in 1977–1981, three of them in the 4×200 m freestyle relay. Between 1978 and 1980 he also won three national titles in the 200 m and 400 m freestyle events.

Jürgen Glas German swimmer

Jürgen Glas is a retired German breaststroke swimmer who won a silver medal in the 4×100 m medley relay at the 1973 World Aquatics Championships. In 1973 and 1975 he won four national titles in total and twice finished in second place.

Johannes Oesterling is a German swimmer who won a bronze medal in the 4×200 m freestyle relay at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships. He finished sixth in the same event at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Bert Göbel is a retired German swimmer who won a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m medley relay at the 1986 World Aquatics Championships. He also won national championships in the 100 m breaststroke events in 1986 and 1987.

André Schadt is a retired German swimmer who won a silver medal in the 4×100 m medley relay at the 1986 World Aquatics Championships. He also won two gold medals in freestyle relays at the European Championships in 1985 and 1989. In 1986 and 1989 he won the national championships in the 100 m freestyle event.
