Keno Don Hugo Rosa, known simply as Don Rosa, is an American comic book writer and illustrator known for his Disney comics stories about Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, and other characters which Carl Barks created for Disney-licensed comic books, first published in America by Dell Comics. Many of his stories are built on characters and locations created by Carl Barks; among these was his first Duck story, "The Son of the Sun" (1987), which was nominated for a Harvey Award in the "Best Story of the Year" category.
Franklin Christenson "Chris" Ware is an American cartoonist known for his Acme Novelty Library series and the graphic novels Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Kid on Earth (2000), Building Stories (2012) and Rusty Brown (2019). His works explore themes of social isolation, emotional torment and depression. He tends to use a vivid color palette and realistic, meticulous detail. His lettering and images are often elaborate and sometimes evoke the ragtime era or another early 20th-century American design style.
Daniel Gillespie Clowes is an American cartoonist, graphic novelist, illustrator, and screenwriter. Most of Clowes's work first appeared in Eightball, a solo anthology comic book series. An Eightball issue typically contained several short pieces and a chapter of a longer narrative that was later collected and published as a graphic novel, such as Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron (1993), Ghost World (1997), David Boring (2000) and Patience (2016). Clowes's illustrations have appeared in The New Yorker, Newsweek, Vogue, The Village Voice, and elsewhere. With filmmaker Terry Zwigoff, Clowes adapted Ghost World into a 2001 film and another Eightball story into the 2006 film, Art School Confidential. Clowes's comics, graphic novels, and films have received numerous awards, including a Pen Award for Outstanding Work in Graphic Literature, over a dozen Harvey and Eisner Awards, and an Academy Award nomination.
Valhalla is a Danish comic series, which offers a comedic view of the gods of Norse mythology. Originally commissioned for and published by Interpresse, it has been published by Carlsen Comics since 1987. In 1986, Valhalla was adapted into an animated feature film the studio A Film. On October 10, 2019, a more serious and dark live action adaptation is slated to be released.

Ronnie del Carmen is a Filipino animation writer, director, story artist, story supervisor and production designer. He co-directed and was one of the story writers for the 2015 Pixar film Inside Out, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. He was the story supervisor on Pixar's tenth full-length computer-animated film, Up and directed its accompanying short film, Dug's Special Mission.
Valhalla is a Danish animated feature film released in 1986 by Metronome, based on volumes one, four and five of the comics series of the same name, in its turn based on the Scandinavian tales of the Norse mythology, as they are told in Snorri Sturlusons so-called Younger Edda, and in the Poetic Edda. It was directed by Disney animator Jeffrey J. Varab and cartoonist Peter Madsen, the latter of which is one of the writers and the main artist on the Valhalla comics. The movie takes plot elements told from the three comic albums "Cry Wolf", "The Story of Quark" and "The Journey to Útgarða-Loki".
The Sproing Award is awarded by Norsk Tegneserieforum (NTF), an organisation to promote interest and understanding for comics in Norway. Since 1987, the award has been presented for the Best Norwegian Strips, a comic strip or comic book by a Norwegian, and Best Translated Strips, an international comic strip/comic book translated into Norwegian. Since 2003, there has also been awarded a Sproing for Best Comics Debut.
Frank Bruun Madsen is a Danish author, illustrator and comics artist. He is married to another Danish comics artist, Sussi Bech. Together they produce a weekly satirical comic strip "Eks Libris" for the literary supplement of Weekendavisen. Frank is also the author of Kurt Dunder, an adventure comic created in the ligne claire style, and three comic albums with LEGOs science fiction character Jim Spaceborn. Awarded the Hanne Hansen Prize in 2017. Three times nominated for the Claus Deleuran Prize.

Interpresse, later known as Semic Interpresse, was a Danish comic book publisher that operated from 1954 to 1997. Known for original comics as well as translated American and European titles, it was an innovative and creative publisher with a dominant position in the Danish market especially from the early 1970s — when interest in comics culminated — until the mid-1980s — when competition from home video, computer games, and computer animation changed the marketplace. The company had foreign branches in Belgium and Norway ; it also acquired a number of Danish competitors in the 1970s and '80s.
