John Mayhew (musician) British musician

John Mayhew was the third drummer for the progressive rock band Genesis. He replaced previous drummer John Silver in August 1969. He appears on the album Trespass as well as the Genesis Archive 1967-75 and Genesis 1970–1975 box sets. He was replaced in August 1970 by Phil Collins.

David Luce Royal Navy admiral

Admiral Sir John David Luce, was a Royal Navy officer. He fought in the Second World War as a submarine commander before taking part in the Dieppe Raid and becoming Chief Staff Officer to the Naval Forces for the Normandy landings. He also commanded a cruiser during the Korean War. He served as First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff in the mid-1960s and in that role resigned from the Royal Navy along with Navy Minister Christopher Mayhew in March 1966 in protest over the decision by the Labour Secretary of State for Defence, Denis Healey, to cancel the CVA-01 aircraft carrier programme.

On 5 June 1790, Peter Wainwright married Elizabeth Mayhew. Elizabeth was born in 1759 and died 5 July 1829 in England. Peter was a tobacconist. He is said to have been a prosperous English merchant and came to Boston before the American Revolution. Peter and Elizabeth returned to England for the birth of their first son in 1791. They didn't return to Massachusetts until 11 years later.
