Australian rules football Contact sport invented in Melbourne

Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, or simply called Aussie rules, football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of eighteen players on an oval-shaped field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval-shaped ball between goal posts or between behind posts.

A half-forward flanker from East Sandringham, Victoria, he debuted in 1973 with the St Kilda Football Club, and his 188 cm frame was reliable in marking contests. Bell played 33 games and booted 33 goals for St Kilda, [1] before moving to the VFA in 1978 to play for Sandringham Football Club. [2]

The 1973 Victorian Football League season was the 77th season of the elite Australian rules football competition.
