Petro Dode (born 17 April 1924,date of death unknown) [1] was an Albanian politician. He served as Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania from 19 February 1987 to 17 April 1990. [2]
Dode was a party functionary. He authored technical and political books,such as:20 Vjet Shqipëri socialiste (20 years of Socialist Albania) in 1964,Revizionizmi jugosllav dhe pasojat e tij nëekonominëbujqësore tëJugosllavisë (Yugoslav revisionism and its effects on the Yugoslav agricultural economy) of 1962,and Probleme tëplanifikimit dhe tëzhvillimit ekonomisëbujqësore nëRPSH (Topics on planning and agricultural economy development in the PSR of Albania) of 1965. In addition,he was also first candidate of the Central Committee (CC) of the Labour Party of Albania (PPSh). [5]
In 1966,he was first-deputy of the People's Assembly (Alb:Kuvendi Popullor). Dode was member of the parliament from the sixth to the end of the eleventh legislative term ending in 1991.
After the demise of Abdyl Këllezi,he succeeded on 1 September 1975 as Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers led by Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu,position he held until January 14,1982. At the same time,on 1 September 1975,Dode also succeeded Këllezi as Chairman of the State Planning Commission until 23 November 1982. He was succeeded by Harilla Papajorgji as Chairman of the State Planning Commission in the Çarçani II Government.
On February 19,1987,he was elected President of the People's Assembly of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania,position previously held by Pali Miska. He held this position until 17 April 1990 and was therefore the last officeholder of the position of President of the People's Assembly of the People's Republic of Albania.
Throughout his life,Petro Dode was known to be a smart man with an affinity for gardening. His house was located on the infamous Block reserved only for Albania’s elite government officials.
The Party of Labour of Albania (PLA),also referred to as the Albanian Workers' Party (AWP),was the ruling and sole legal party of Albania during the communist period (1945–1991). It was founded on 8 November 1941 as the Communist Party of Albania but changed its name in 1948. The party was dissolved on 13 June 1991 and succeeded by the Socialist Party of Albania and the new Communist Party of Albania. For most of its existence,the party was dominated by its First Secretary,Enver Hoxha,who was also the de facto leader of Albania from 1944 until his death in 1985.

As part of his political career he also served as Chairman of the State Planning Commission,Minister of Industry and Construction of Albania,as well as Vice Prime Minister.
Kostandin Boshnjaku was an Albanian banker,politician,diplomat and in the last years of his life as a translator of books. Even though he was one of the earliest Albanian communists,he was arrested and convicted on 31 December 1947 by the Supreme Military Court with life imprisonment due to the divergences he had with the communist regime. In 1949,he was released from prison by an amnesty,while unofficially it was said to have been released with the direct intervention of Soviet ambassador Dmitry Chuvakhin. He spent the last years of his live in Durrës serving as a translator of books in several languages.

The Second Government of the Prime Minister Ilir Meta was the 60th Government of the Republic of Albania which was officially mandated by President Rexhep Meidani on 7 September 2001. After the 2001 election,the alliance led by the Socialist Party won the majority for the second time in a row and managed to create a post–electoral coalition of 86 seats in Parliament to form the new government.
The Majko II Government was the 61st ruling government of the Republic of Albania,led by prime minister Pandeli Majko. It was officially mandated by president Rexhep Meidani on 22 February 2002. After the 2001 parliamentary elections,the alliance led by the Socialist Party won a seat majority for the second consecutive time and managed to form a government headed by Ilir Meta but due to internal conflicts within the party,Meta was forced to offer his resignation on 29 January 2002. Majko managed to persuade most of the party hierarchy,including its chairman Fatos Nano,to form a new government,although as it turned out,for the same reasons as the Meta II Government,he offered his resignation a few months later on 25 July 2002.
The Bufi Government better known as the Government of Stability was an interim government formed after the resignation of the previous Nano government due to the aggravated situation in the country after the events of 2 April 1991 where 4 opposition supporters were killed in Shkodër during a anti-communist protest that led to the burning of the Shkodra Labor Party Committee. The Nano government resigned on 4 June 1991,and the next day the then-President Ramiz Alia,began negotiations to form a comprehensive government whose main objective would be to restore stability to the country,from which it took the name "Stability Government". Ylli Bufi was accepted also by the opposition to be appointed as Prime Minister,while one of the most prominent figures of the Democratic Party,such as Gramoz Pashko,was appointed Deputy Prime Minister.
