Phaphlu is a mountainous town in north-east Nepal, approximately 270 kilometres east of the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu. The altitude of the village is 2,413 m.

The Zeke O’Connor Highschool and Junior School provide education in English for students from the surrounding area. The school is financed by the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation of Canada and named after its founder.
