Philip Andrew Williams (b 1964) has been Archdeacon of Nottingham since September 2019. [1]

Williams was educated at the University of Sheffield and Cranmer Hall, Durham; and ordained in 1991. After a curacies in Sheffield and Nottingham he was the incumbent at Lenton Abbey from 1994 to 2002 and Porchester from 2002 until 2017. He was an Associate Archdeacon from 2017 to 2019 [2] and his appointment as Archdeacon. [3]

Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham

The Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham is a Church of England diocese in the Province of York, headed by the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham. The diocese covers all the English county of Nottinghamshire and a few parishes in South Yorkshire. It is bordered by the dioceses of Derby, Leicester, Lincoln and Sheffield. The cathedral, Southwell Minster, is in the small town of Southwell, 15 miles/24 km north of Nottingham.

Diocese of Chelmsford

The Diocese of Chelmsford is a Church of England diocese, part of the Province of Canterbury. The diocese covers Essex and the five East London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest, and is co-terminous with the boundaries of the Catholic Diocese of Brentwood. It is divided into three episcopal areas, each with its own area bishop. The Diocese covers a region of around 1,500 square miles (3,900 km2) and has a population of more than 3 million; it has 463 parishes and a total of 588 churches; it is the second largest Anglican diocese in England.

The Bishop of Barking is an episcopal title used by an area bishop of the Church of England Diocese of Chelmsford, in the Province of Canterbury.

Anglican Bishop of Nottingham

The Anglican Bishop of Nottingham was an episcopal title used by a Church of England suffragan bishop. The title took its name after the county town of Nottingham and was first created under the Suffragan Bishops Act 1534. Until 1837, Nottingham had been part of the Diocese of York, when it then became part of the Diocese of Lincoln. With the creation of the Diocese of Southwell in 1884, Nottingham became part of that diocese, but the then- bishop remained suffragan to Lincoln. Since 2005, Nottingham gives its name to the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham.

Paul Gavin Williams is a Church of England bishop. Since May 2015, he has been the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham; from 2009 to 2015, he was the Bishop of Kensington, an area bishop in the Diocese of London.
