Pia Philippa Strache [1] (born 1 December 1987 as Pia Philippa Beck in Vienna) [2] is an Austrian presenter and politician.
Strache was Josef Cap's assistant for five years in the parliamentary club of the SPÖ. [3] Between 2012 and 2013, she worked as spokeswoman for Team Stronach. In 2016, she became presenter for the newly founded news channel oe24.tv. [4] Additionally, she moderated the FPÖ's channel FPÖ TV on YouTube. [5]
Beginning in summer of 2018, Strache served as honorary animal welfare officer of the FPÖ. She was also responsible for Heinz-Christian Strache's social media appearance. [6] Strache is said to have received a salary of €9,500 for these functions. [7]
Strache was an FPÖ candidate for the 2019 National Council elections. Her final entry into parliament was unclear for some time due to discussions about expense reports and the arithmetic of the elections. [8] The discussion generated a broad media response. [9] [10] [11]
On 7 October, the FPÖ announced that Harald Stefan would waive his basic mandate and thus enter the National Council via the national list, which would not have given Strache a mandate. [12] On 9 October 2019 however, Vienna's state election authority announced that Harald Stefan could not waive his basic mandate and that Strache would therefore definitely be entitled to a mandate via the national list. [13] As a result, the federal party chairman Norbert Hofer and the designated club Chairman Herbert Kickl immediately declared that the FPÖ would not include Philippa Strache in their parliamentary club. In the constituent session of the 27th legislative period on 23 October 2019, Strache became a member of the National Council; she was expelled from the FPÖ the same day. [14]
Her relationship with Heinz-Christian Strache began in autumn of 2015; they had their first public appearance together in January 2016 at the Jägerball. Their wedding followed on 7 October 2016. On 1 January 2019, she gave birth to their son. [15] [16]

Heinz-Christian Strache is an Austrian politician and dental technician who served as Vice-Chancellor of Austria from 2017 to 2019 before resigning owing to his involvement in the Ibiza affair. He was also Minister of Civil Service and Sports from January 2018 to May 2019 and chairman of the Freedom Party (FPÖ) from April 2005 to May 2019. He previously served as a member of the National Council from October 2006 until December 2017 and as a member of the municipal council and state legislature of Vienna (2001–2006).

The Freedom Party of Austria is a national-conservative and right-wing populist political party in Austria. It has been led by Herbert Kickl since 2021. It is the third largest of five parties in the National Council, with 30 of the 183 seats, and won 16.2% of votes cast in the 2019 legislative election and it is represented in all nine state legislatures. A legislative snap election for the National Council in Austria was held on 28 September 2008. The previous election was held on 1 October 2006. The election was caused by the withdrawal of Austrian People's Party leader Wilhelm Molterer from the governing grand coalition on 7 July 2008. Due to dissatisfaction with the grand coalition and the two main parties, it was widely expected to be a realigning election, with gains for the opposition and up to seven parties expected to be in the National Council after the election. The losses for the government parties resulted in strong gains for the far right, while neither the Liberal Forum nor the Citizens' Forum Austria gained as much as 2% of the vote, defying earlier expectations. The result of the election was seen as strong for the far-right and in support of Eurosceptics.

The government subsequently lost a motion of no confidence in parliament, before ÖVP Chancellor Sebastian Kurz was replaced by non-partisan Brigitte Bierlein on an interim basis.

It was founded in December 2019 under the name The Alliance for Austria by three former members of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) led by Karl Baron. In February 2020, former FPÖ leader Heinz-Christian Strache confirmed he would run for the DAÖ in the 2020 Viennese state election. The party subsequently promoted Strache to federal party chairman and adopted its current name. The party failed to win seats in the election.
The Beer Party is an Austrian satirical political party. Founded in 2014, it was originally known as the Beer Party of Austria and used the corresponding abbreviation BPÖ until its renaming in 2020. The party's activity is confined to Vienna, where BIER first appeared on ballots in the 2019 Austrian legislative election and appeared again in the 2020 Viennese state election. As of 2020, it has been unable to amass the votes required for representation in the National Council, Federal Council, or the Landtage, claiming 0.6% of Viennese votes in 2019 and 1.8% in 2020. However, the party was able to win mandates in 11 of Vienna's districts. The party is organized purely at the federal level without state parties.
