Philippe Henry (born 23 April 1971) is a Belgian politician.
Henry was born in Charleroi. He attended University of Liège, becoming the president of the student council, served as student delegate from the University of Liège and the head of Federation of Francophone students in 1994–1995. [1] [2]
In 1995, he graduated with a degree in civil engineering. He finished a master's degree in management in 1997. He worked as a researcher from 1995 to 1999.
He joined the Ecolo party in 1999 and was elected a regional and community member of parliament in 1999 and stayed until 2004.
He served as town councilor in Sprimont and Political Director of Ecolo.
On 16 July 2009, he became the Walloon Minister for the Environment, Spatial Planning, mobility, transportation, and brownfield sites within the Walloon Government under the second term of Minister-President Rudy Demotte. Since 2014, Henry also serves as a Senator. [3]
Wallonia is a region of Belgium. Covering the southern portion of the country, Wallonia is primarily French-speaking, and accounts for 55% of Belgium's territory, but only a third of its population. The Walloon Region was not merged with the French Community of Belgium, which is the political entity responsible for matters related mainly to culture and education, because the French Community of Belgium encompasses both Wallonia and the predominantly Francophone Brussels-Capital Region.
Voeren is a Flemish Dutchspeaking municipality with facilities for the Frenchspeaking minority, located in the Belgian province of Limburg. Bordering the Netherlands to the north and the Walloon province of Liège to the south, it is geographically detached from the rest of Flanders, making Voeren an exclave of Flanders. Voeren's name is derived from that of a small right-bank tributary of the Meuse, the Voer, which flows through the municipality.
The Humanist Democratic Centre is a Christian-democratic and humanist French-speaking political party in Belgium. Until 2002, the party was known as the Christian Social Party. The cdH currently participates in the Government of the Brussels-Capital Region, the Government of the French Community the Walloon Government, but no longer, following the May 2014 national elections, the Belgian federal government.
Elio Di Rupo is a Belgian social-democratic politician who is the 15th Minister-President of Wallonia. He served as the 50th Prime Minister of Belgium from 6 December 2011 to 11 October 2014, and headed the Di Rupo Government. Di Rupo was the first francophone to hold the office since Paul Vanden Boeynants in 1979, and the country's first socialist Prime Minister since Edmond Leburton left office in 1974. He was also Belgium's first Prime Minister of non-Belgian descent, and the world's second openly gay person and first openly gay man to be head of government in modern times.
The Parliament of Wallonia is the legislative body of Wallonia, one of the three self-governing regions of Belgium. The parliament building, the former Hospice Saint-Gilles, is situated in Namur, the capital of Wallonia, at the symbolic confluence of the Meuse and the Sambre, the two main rivers of the most inhabited parts of Wallonia, the Sillon industriel. On the other side of the Meuse, facing the Parliament, is the Élysette, the seat of the Walloon government.

The University of Liège, or ULiège, is a major public university of the French Community of Belgium based in Liège, Wallonia, Belgium. Its official language is French. As of 2020, ULiège is ranked in the 301–350 category worldwide according to Times Higher Education, 451st by QS World University Rankings, and between the 201th and 300th place by the Academic Ranking of World Universities. More than 2000 people, academics, scientists and technicians, are involved in research of a wide variety of subjects from basic research to applied research.
Didier Reynders is a Belgian politician and a member of the Mouvement Réformateur (MR) serving as European Commissioner for Justice since 2019. He held various positions in public institutions before becoming a member of the House in 1992. He was a minister without interruption from 1999 to 2019, until resigning to become Belgian European Commissioner.
Melchior H. M. J. F. C. Wathelet is a Belgian politician and member of the Humanist Democratic Centre who served as 4th Minister-President of Wallonia. He has degrees in law and in economics and is a Master of Laws. He is also a professor at the Catholic University of Louvain and the Université de Liège. From 1995 to 2003 he was a Judge at the European Court of Justice. Since October 2012 Wathelet serves as advocate-general at the Court of Justice.
The 2007–2008 Belgian government formation followed the general election of 10 June 2007, and comprised a period of negotiation in which the Flemish parties Flemish Liberal Democratic, Christian Democratic and Flemish (CD&V) and New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), and the French-speaking parties Reformist Movement (MR), Democratic Front of Francophones (FDF) and Humanist Democratic Centre (CdH) negotiated to form a government coalition. The negotiations were characterized by the disagreement between the Dutch- and French-speaking parties about the need for and nature of a constitutional reform. According to some, this political conflict could have led to a partition of Belgium.

Jean-Maurice Dehousse is a former Member of the European Parliament who served Belgium between 1999 and 2004 as a member of the Parti Socialiste. He was the first and third Minister-President of Wallonia.
André Damseaux was a Belgian politician, second Minister-President of Wallonia and Member of the European Parliament.
Liège is a major Walloon city and municipality and the capital of the Belgian province of Liège.
Federal elections were held in Belgium on 25 May 2014. All 150 members of the Chamber of Representatives were elected, whereas the Senate was no longer directly elected following the 2011–2012 state reform. These were the first elections held under King Philippe's reign.
André Antoine is a Belgian politician, minister and mayor. He has been a member of the francophone cdH since 1980. He was elected to the presidency of the Wallon parliament on 22 July 2014.
