Phuntsho Rapten is a Bhutanese politician who has been an appointed member of the National Council of Bhutan,since May 2018. [2] Previously,he was an appointed member of the National Council of Bhutan from 2015 to 2018. [3]
The Kingdom of Bhutan is divided into 20 districts. Bhutan is located between the Tibet Autonomous Region of China and India on the eastern slopes of the Himalayas in South Asia.
The Bodoland Territorial Region is an autonomous region and a proposed state in Assam,Northeast India. It is made up of five districts on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river below the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. It is administered by an elected body known as the Bodoland Territorial Council which came into existence under the terms of a peace agreement signed in February 2003 and its autonomy was further extended by an agreement signed in January 2020. The Second Tibetan Invasion of Bhutan or the Second Battle of Simtokha Dzong was a military confrontation in 1634 between the supporters of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and the forces of the Tibetan Tsangpa dynasty and several Bhutanese lamas allied against him. The latter initially conquered Zhabdrung's seat,Simtokha Dzong,threatening to eliminate his young dominion. The castle's ammunition stores were accidentally ignited during the battle,however,resulting in an explosion that destroyed Simtokha Dzong and much of the Tibetan army. Seizing this chance,Zhabdrung's followers rallied and ousted the Tibetans from their territory,turning the battle into a decisive strategic victory of Ngawang Namgyal,paving the way for the Unification of Bhutan under his rule.

Sönam Rapten,initially known as GyaléChödze and later on as Sönam Chöpel,was born in the Tholung valley in the Central Tibetan province of Ü. He started off as a monk-administrator of the Ganden Phodrang,the early Dalai Lamas' residence at Drepung Monastery,outside Lhasa,Tibet. From around or before the age of 20 he became the Treasurer and the "Chagdzo" of the Fourth (1589-1617) and,subsequently,the Fifth Dalai Lama (1617-1682). He presided as the most senior official of the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism for over 40 years.
The 2014 Bhutan National League was the third season of national football competition in Bhutan,having replaced the A-Division (Bhutan) in 2013. Again,the A-Division provided the qualifiers,with the top four teams in that competition being awarded places in the National League alongside regional teams. The league was sponsored by Coca-Cola. Druk United won the Championship on goal difference from Ugyen Academy and,as a result of the abolition of the AFC President's Cup,will be the first team from Bhutan to take part in the AFC Cup.

Samten Tenzin,better known as Umze Peljor,was the 7th Druk Desi or head of government of Bhutan from 1703 until his death. Inexperienced as a politician and of mild character,Peljor served as little more than a co-ruler to the more powerful Gyaltsab Kuenga Gyaltshen. Feeling overwhelmed by the factional strife at court,Peljor eventually retired to Chagri Monastery in 1705. For the last years of his life,he remained only nominally in office while effectively living as monk.
Norbu,with the later title of Depa and also known as Nangso Norbu,was a Tibetan government official born in the Central Tibetan province of Üaround the end of the 16th century. In 1644 he was appointed Governor of Shigatse,a post he held until 1659 when he succeeded his elder brother,Desi Sonam Rapten as de facto ruler of Tibet on behalf of Lobzang Gyatso,the Fifth Dalai Lama. After a brief reign he rebelled unsuccessfully against the latter and was banished. His last recorded activity was in 1660.
Membartsho,also known as Mebar Tsho,is a holy site,revered as the place where Pema Lingpa,Bhutan's greatest tertön,discovered several of Guru Rinpoche's terma in the 15th century. The pool in the Tang Valley,near Bumthang in central Bhutan is known locally as the Burning Lake,because according to legend,Pema Lingpa had a dream urging him to go to that particular spot in the Tang Chuu river. After standing on the rocks looking into the depths he discerned there was a temple at the bottom with many doors,one of which was open. He dove in and swam into a large cave where a woman with one eye handed him a treasure chest. As he took it from her he found himself back on dry land.

Phuntsho Jigme is a Bhutanese international footballer. His first appearance for Bhutan was in the SAFF Cup 2018 playing against Bangladesh. He was a substitute player for Bhutan in the 2019 South Asian Games.
