Mrinal Sen Indian film director

Mrinal Sen was an Indian film director of Bengali heritage and a nominated Member of the Indian parliament. Along with Satyajit Ray,he is considered to be one of the greatest Indian filmmakers of all time.Sen directed films primarily in Bengali and Hindi. Along with contemporaries Ritwik Ghatak, Tapan Sinha and Satyajit Ray, he pioneered the New Wave cinema in India. He has received multiple awards, including 18 National Film Awards. The Government of India has awarded him the Padma Bhushan, and the Government of France has awarded him the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, while Russian Government awarded him Order of Friendship. Sen was also awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Sen was a self described "private Marxist".

Moscow International Film Festival Annual film festival

The Moscow International Film Festival is the film festival first held in Moscow in 1935 and became regular since 1959. From its inception to 1959 it was held every second year in July, alternating with the Karlovy Vary festival. The festival has been held annually since 1999. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIAPF paused the accreditation of the festival until further notice.

Juan Antonio Bardem Spanish film director and screenwriter

Juan Antonio Bardem Muñoz was a Spanish film director and screen writer, born in Madrid. He was a member of the Communist Party. Bardem was best known for Muerte de un ciclista (1955) which won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 1955 Cannes Film Festival, and El puente (1977) which won the Golden Prize at the 10th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1979 film Seven Days in January won the Golden Prize at the 11th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1981 he was a member of the jury at the 12th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1993 he was a member of the jury at the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival. In 1953 he and Luis García Berlanga founded a film magazine, Objetivo, which existed until 1956. Bardem is the father of director Miguel Bardem and uncle of actor Javier Bardem. Bardem died in Madrid in 2002, at age 80.

It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet, is a 1976 sequel to the 1975 film All Creatures Great and Small. Although having the same title as James Herriot's second novel, the film is actually based on his third and fourth novels, Let Sleeping Vets Lie and Vet in Harness, which in the United States were released as a compilation volume titled All Things Bright and Beautiful. It is part of a series of movies and television series based on Herriot's novels.

Gian Luigi Rondi was an Italian film critic. He was a member of the jury at the 12th and 15th Moscow International Film Festival. He was also a member of the jury at the 11th and 32nd Berlin International Film Festival. He was also a member of the jury three times at the Cannes Film Festival in 1963, 1967 and 1980. He was the president of the jury at the 48th Venice Film Festival. A closeted homosexual for most of his life, he was married with Yvette Spadaccini from 1948 to her death in 2012.

Komaki Kurihara is a Japanese stage and film actress. She has appeared in 30 films since 1967. She starred in the 1974 film Sandakan No. 8, which was entered into the 25th Berlin International Film Festival. In 1975 she was a member of the jury at the 9th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1981 she was a member of the jury at the 12th Moscow International Film Festival.

Christo Christov was a Bulgarian film director and screenwriter. He directed 19 films between 1969 and 1997.

Octavio Cortázar Jiménez was a Cuban film director and screenwriter. He directed twelve films between 1961 and 2005. His 1977 film The Teacher was entered into the 28th Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Silver Bear for an outstanding artistic contribution. András Kovács was a Hungarian film director and screenwriter. He directed 30 films between 1961 and 1996. His 1968 film The Lost Generation was entered into the 6th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1978 film A ménesgazda was entered into the 29th Berlin International Film Festival. His 1981 film Temporary Paradise won the Silver Prize at the 12th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1985 film The Red Countess was entered into the 14th Moscow International Film Festival.

Lothar Warneke was a German film director, screenwriter and actor. His 1977 film The Incorrigible Barbara was entered into the 10th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1981 film Our Short Life was entered into the 12th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1982 his film Apprehension was entered into the main competition at the 39th edition of the Venice Film Festival.
