Leyah (Leah) Chase was an American chef based in New Orleans, Louisiana. An author and television personality, she was known as the Queen of Creole Cuisine, advocating both African-American art and Creole cooking. Her restaurant, Dooky Chase, was known as a gathering place during the 1960s among many who participated in the Civil Rights Movement, and was known as a gallery due to its extensive African-American art collection. The Trump International Hotel and Tower was a proposed residential tower located in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana. It was a project of real estate mogul Donald Trump's Trump Organization. Supposedly in the planning stages from summer 2005 on, the project was finally declared dead in July 2011 after the location land was foreclosed on and sold at auction.

Treme is an American drama television series created by David Simon and Eric Overmyer that aired on HBO. On the morning of September 4, 2005, six days after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, members of the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), ostensibly responding to a call from an officer under fire, shot and killed two civilians at the Danziger Bridge: 17-year-old James Brissette and 40-year-old Ronald Madison. Four other civilians were wounded. All the victims were African-American. None were armed or had committed any crime. Madison, a mentally disabled man, was shot in the back. The shootings caused public anger and further eroded the trust New Orleans had in the federal response to Hurricane Katrina and the NOPD.
Dong Phuong Oriental Bakery is a Vietnamese retail and wholesale bakery, restaurant, and catering business in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is known for supplying the baguette style bread for many of the city's restaurants that offer banh mi or other sandwiches, and has its own popular banh mi counter. The bakery, along with the nearby Mary Queen of Vietnam Catholic Church, were fixtures of the Vietnamese community in New Orleans even before surviving the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. It is located at 14207 Chef Menteur Highway in the "Little Vietnam" section of Eastern New Orleans. It is attached to a sit-down restaurant of the same name that serves a variety of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes, including phở, bún thịt nướng, bún riêu, and bánh hỏi.
Crawfish Monica is a Louisiana food tradition. Ingredients include pasta, crawfish tail meat, onion, garlic, creole seasoning, cream, wine, salt, pepper, and butter. The dish was created by chef Pierre Hilzim who is the head of Kajun Kettle Foods. He named it after his wife Monica Davidson. Parsley can be used as a garnish. Shrimp, crabmeat and oysters can be substituted for crawfish.

L.B. Landry College and Career Preparatory High School is a high school on the west bank of Orleans Parish in Algiers, New Orleans, Louisiana. The school opened in 2013 after the merger of L.B. Landry High School and O. Perry Walker College and Career Preparatory High School. It is named after Lord Beaconsfield Landry (1878–1934) and Oliver Perry Walker (1899–1968). In 2021, the school name was changed to L.B. Landry College and Career Preparatory High School, in recognition that Walker was a former New Orleans Public School Superintendent who supported segregation.
