Pieter ("Piet") Karel de Zwarte (born 16 February 1948 in Renkum) is a former Dutch water polo player, who won the bronze medal with the Dutch Men's Team at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Renkum is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands. The municipality had a population of 31,417 in 2021 and has a land area of 45.95 km2 (17.74 sq mi). Renkum is situated along the river Rhine. The municipality Renkum is part of the Stadsregio Arnhem-Nijmegen.

Mostaert probably made the painting between c. 1525 and 1530, or slightly earlier.
