"Sarie Marais" is a traditional South African folk song, created possibly during the First Anglo-Boer War or the Second Anglo-Boer War. The tune was possibly taken from a song dating back from the American Civil War called "Carry me back to Tennessee" or "Sweet Ellie Rhee" with the words roughly translated into Afrikaans.
Riku Lätti is a South African singer, songwriter, and writer. After matriculation in 1991 at Hoërskool Florida, Johannesburg, he studied philosophy at the University of the Witwatersrand where he finished his honors degree. He changed his name to Victor S. Wolf and claimed that Riku Lattii was "dead." Since then he composed the complete film score for Jans Rautenbach's film "Abraham", on which he was credited as Riku Lätti, thereby being effectively resurrected.

Eden is a South African pop band. Originally made up of Jay, Paulo, Johan, and Sean, the band debuted during the popular South African Aardklop Festival followed by a tour all over South Africa releasing their album In in 1997. After Sean Else left in 2006, the boy band continued as a trio. Since 2003, the band has released three more albums, Point of No Return (2003), Eden (2006) and Knieë Lam (2008), a live DVD Live at The Mardi Gras (2008) and a compilation album Dekade (2009). They are signed to Coleske Artists.

He was head of music and principal conductor at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and head of music at the University of the Witwatersrand. He became a central figure in art music in South Africa during the mid 20th century.

The Pierneef Theatre is located in the neighborhood of Villieria, Pretoria, South Africa, on the grounds of Rietondale High School, formerly known as Hoërskool Hendrik Verwoerd. The first performance there in March 2003, a collaboration with Die Teaterhuisie in Sunnyside, featured acting couple Petru Wessels and Carel Trichardt. It has become renowned nationwide since then, and hosted several foreign entertainers as well.
Stephanus Muller is a South African music scholar and writer who has written about South African twentieth-century composition, exile, archiving, language politics, music and apartheid and university institutional transformation. As the last chairman of the Musicological Society of Southern Africa, he was a founding member of the South African Society for Research in Music (SASRIM) in 2006. He also founded the Documentation Centre for Music (DOMUS) in 2005 at Stellenbosch University, and the Africa Open Institute for Music, Research and Innovation (AOI) at the same university in 2016. He received his BMus (performance) from Pretoria University in 1992, MMus (musicology) from the University of South Africa in 1998, and DPhil from the University of Oxford in 2001. Having studied with the writer Marlene van Niekerk, he also holds a MA in Creative Afrikaans writing from Stellenbosch University (2007).
