Pinson High School

Pinson High School was a public high school in Pinson, Tennessee. Founded in 1873 by J. C. Wright, it had nearly 150 students within two years of its establishment. [1] It was disestablished in 1956 with the formation of South Side High School from several local institutions. [2]

The school's best-known alumnus was renowned country music singer Eddy Arnold, who played the guitar at school functions while attending Pinson. Arnold did not graduate, however—he dropped out to help his family with farm work. [3]

A member of the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame, Arnold ranked 22nd on Country Music Television's 2003 list of "The 40 Greatest Men of Country Music."

Eddy Anthony Curry Jr. is an American former professional basketball player. Coming directly out of Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois, Curry was selected fourth overall in the 2001 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. Curry played for the Bulls until 2005, then played for the New York Knicks from 2005 to 2010. Curry played for the Miami Heat in the 2011–12 season and was part of the Heat's 2012 championship team. Curry played for the Dallas Mavericks for the early part of the 2012–13 season before playing out the season for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association.

South Side High School in Jackson, Tennessee is a public high school, part of the Jackson-Madison County School System school system. It was created in 1956 by the consolidation of Pinson High School, Malesus High School, J.B. Young High School and Mercer High School. In 1992 they absorbed the students of West High School when it was abolished as part of the merger of the Jackson and Madison County school systems.

Pinson Valley High School (PVHS) is a four-year public high school in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Pinson. It is the fifth largest of the Jefferson County Board of Education's fourteen high schools. School colors are garnet and gold, and the athletic teams are called the Indians. PVHS competes in AHSAA Class 6A athletics.
