Piotr (Peter) Pakhomkin (born 1985) is a Russian-American classical guitarist who has performed at Carnegie Hall and given performances and masterclasses throughout Europe, Central and Northern America.
Pakhomkin was born in Saint Petersburg Russia and moved to Maryland in the United States in 1991. [1] His first classical guitar teacher was Paul Moeller who prepared him for university studies in classical guitar. [1] Pakhomkin earned his master's degree from The Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute and studied directly under Manuel Barrueco for six years. [1] Pakhomkin was featured in Aaron Shearer: A Life With the Guitar, a production of Michael Lawrence Films. [2]
Pakhomkin took home First Prize from the 2012 Mexican International Guitar Competition in Culiacan and top prizes from the Boston GuitarFest International Guitar Competition, the Great Lakes Guitar Competition, the Montreal International Guitar Competition, and the European International Guitar Competition, “Enrico Mercatali” in Italy. In 2014, Pakhomkin became a Strathmore Artist-in-Residence. [1] After completing his residency he returned and continues to serve as a faculty member, performer and mentor in the Strathmore Institute for Artistic Development. [1]
Pakhomkin won the 2016 Respighi International Soloist Competition and made his Carnegie Hall debut with the Chamber Orchestra of New York's "Masterwork Series" in June 2018. [3]
Pakhomkin continues to perform concerts in Maryland and across the United States as well as around the world, teaches classical guitar in Georgetown Washington, D.C. and publishes guitar exercises. [4]
Pakhomkin plays exclusively on a 2010 Ross Gutmeier Guitar. [1] He also emphasizes slow practice techniques for endurance and meditation for visualization and focus. [1]

Lambda School of Music and Fine Arts is a bilingual school of music and fine arts and a venue for performances located in Pierrefonds-Roxboro in the West Island of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The languages of instruction are in English and French. Lambda was inaugurated on 10 October 2008 by the mayoress of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Madame Monique Worth and appointed representatives from the Chinese Embassy, Ottawa. The name Lambda was specifically chosen for a variety of reasons. In physics, the sign Lambda stands for wavelength. Through the wavelength of sounds, humans communicate through music. Through the wavelength of light, we communicate emotions through various colors in painting. Lambda is also the acronym for Learning of the Arts through the Mind and Body in the Discovery of Aesthetics. Lambda School supports other organizations of the arts and education in Quebec. The school has been a sponsor of scholarships for the Montreal Classical Music Festival organized annually by the Quebec Music Teachers' Association as well as the Lakeshore Chamber Music Society, and the Quebec Music Competition while also offering an array of scholarships and bursaries to deserving students of the arts. To encourage the development of high level performance in young musicians and to promote the spirit of transcending one's artistic boundaries Lambda School also supports the Quebec Music Competition, an annual music competition organized by the Concours International de Musique et des Beaux Arts de Quebec, offering various scholarships, prizes, certificates and perpetual trophies, and performance opportunities for winners. Lambda school also offers free programs to the community and senior citizens.
