Phillippa Mills is a British senior police officer. From 2021 to 2023 she was Chief Constable of West Mercia Police and she is now an Assistant Commissioner, Trust and Legitimacy of the Metropolitan Police.
Having studied at the University of Kent at Canterbury, she then served in the Metropolitan Police from 1996 to 2017, rising to Chief Superintendent (Temporary Commander), working in Westminster, Redbridge, Waltham Forest and Hackney, leading on public order events such as the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton and overseeing major changes to the Met's Command and Control system. She was heading Covert Policing and Intelligence by May 2017, when she transferred to Essex Police. [2] [1] There she was promoted to Assistant Chief Constable, then in March 2019 to Deputy Chief Constable, in which role she led the initial response to the Essex lorry deaths that October. [2] [3]
The West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner announced on 30 June that she was his preferred candidate as the next Chief Constable of West Mercia Police. [2] Mills' appointment was confirmed on 13 July, making her the first woman to lead West Mercia. [4] [5] On 8 August 2023 she announced she would be leaving West Mercia Police to return to the Metropolitan Police as an Assistant Commissioner. [6] [1]

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), formerly and still commonly referred to as the Metropolitan Police, is the territorial police force responsible for law enforcement and the prevention of crime within the ceremonial county of Greater London. In addition, it is responsible for some specialised matters throughout the United Kingdom, including national counter-terrorism measures and the protection of specific people, such as the monarch and other members of the royal family, members of the government, and other officials.
West Mercia Police, formerly the West Mercia Constabulary, is the territorial police force responsible for policing the counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire in England. The force area covers 2,868 square miles (7,430 km2) making it the fourth largest police area in England and Wales. The resident population of the area is 1.19 million Its name comes from the ancient kingdom of Mercia.

The Metropolitan Police of Greater London, England is organised into four main directorates, each headed by an Assistant Commissioner, and four civilian-staffed support departments previously under the umbrella of Met Headquarters, each headed by a Chief Officer, the equivalent civilian grade to Assistant Commissioner. Julia Rosemary Mulligan was the Conservative North Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner. She is the first person to hold the post and was elected on 15 November 2012. Mulligan stood as the official Conservative Party PCC candidate and previously served as a local district councillor, in Craven, where she lives. She also stood for parliament in the 2010 general election.
Ronald William Ball is a former Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), and the first person to hold the post. At the time of his election he was the only independent PCC not to have a background in policing. After a four-decade long career in aviation as an airline pilot on both commercial and cargo flights he was elected to the newly created office of Police and Crime Commissioner on 15 November 2012. One of his first acts in the post was to endorse an alliance with a neighbouring police force aimed at pooling resources and reducing overall costs. Although his role was a non-operational one, he requested a review of a police investigation into a motoring accident that left several people injured, citing public concerns over the incident. After it emerged that police officers who held a meeting with former Conservative Chief Whip Andrew Mitchell following his involvement in the Plebgate affair had not given a proper account of their conversation, Ball became caught up in the affair after criticising the findings of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) which recommended the officers be disciplined. Ball did not contest the 2016 election for the post, and was succeeded by Philip Seccombe of the Conservative Party.
Simon Byrne, is a senior English police officer. He served as Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) from July 2019 until he resigned in September 2023. He was the Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police from 2009 to 2011 and the Assistant Commissioner for Territorial Policing in the Metropolitan Police Service from 2011 to 2014. He then served as Chief Constable of Cheshire Constabulary from 2014 to 2017.

Dame Lynne Gillian Owens, is a senior law enforcement officer in the United Kingdom. She was made interim Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service in September 2022 before being confirmed as that role's permanent holder in February 2023, the first-ever such female holder.
The West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner is the police and crime commissioner (PCC), an elected official tasked with setting out the way crime is tackled by West Mercia Police in the English counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire. The post was created in November 2012, following an election held on 15 November 2012, and replaced the West Mercia Police Authority. Louisa Rolfe is a senior British police officer. She currently serves as Assistant Commissioner for Met Operations in the Metropolitan Police, having been Deputy Chief Constable of West Midlands Police from 2016 - 2020.
Helen Ball is a retired senior British police officer. During part of her final year in policing she served as Acting Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service. At a national level she has been senior coordinator for counter terrorism policing (2013–2016) and strategic leadership advisor to the College of Policing.
Barbara Ann Gray is a senior police officer in the United Kingdom. Serving with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) from 1989 onwards, she transferred to the Metropolitan Police in April 2021 as a Deputy Assistant Commissioner to fill a post left vacant by Lucy D'Orsi's appointment as Chief Constable of the British Transport Police, with her promotion to Assistant Commissioner (Professionalism) announced in September 2022.
Matt Twist is a senior British police officer, serving in the Metropolitan Police from 1996 to 2013 and 2016 to the present, with the intervening period spent in Surrey Police. It was announced in September 2022 that he would become Temporary Assistant Commissioner for Met Operations, where he succeeded Louisa Rolfe - he was appointed to that rank permanently in August 2023.
