All of the offshore stations broadcasting to Israel were operating from within Israeli territorial waters under a strange arrangement that attempted to prevent intrusion by terrorists on the one hand, while turning a blind eye to the illegality of the offshore broadcasting operations taking place on board the anchored ships.
Gush Dan is a conurbation in Israel, located along the country's Mediterranean coastline. It includes areas from both the Tel Aviv and the Central Districts, or sometimes the whole Metropolitan Area of Tel Aviv, which includes a small part of the Southern District as well. The Gush Dan bloc is the largest conurbation and metropolitan area in Israel, with the metropolitan area having an estimated population of 3,954,570 residents, 95% of whom are Israeli Jews. Despite making up less than 8% of Israel's total land area, it houses about 45% of the country's total population.
Voice of Peace was an offshore radio station that served the Middle East for 20 years from the former Dutch cargo vessel MV Peace, anchored off the Israeli coast on East Mediterranean. Founded by Abie Nathan and the New York-based Peace Ship Foundation, the station broadcast almost continuously between 19 May 1973 and November 1993. The station was relaunched but solely as an online station in August 2009. A second online channel called The Voice of Peace Classics was added in 2014.
Kol Yisrael is Israel's public domestic and international radio service. It operated as a division under the Israel Broadcasting Authority, until 14 May 2017, and the following day the frequencies were handed over to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation.
Bnei Brak–Ramat HaHayal railway station is a suburban passenger railway station in Israel, operated by Israel Railways. It is located near the Bnei Brak–Ramat Gan and Bnei Brak–Tel Aviv borders next to the Ayalon Mall and Ramat Gan Stadium. In spite of its proximity to important industrial and commercial areas of Gush Dan as well as to residential areas of Tel Aviv, Bnei Brak is one of the less-popular stations of Israel Railways, possibly because of its misleading name and lack of awareness. As a result, in an effort to increase the public's awareness of the station, the name of the Ramat HaHayal neighborhood located to the north of the station was added to the station's name in 2017.
