Chiac Acadian French dialect

Chiac is a variety of Acadian French spoken mostly in southeastern New Brunswick, in Canada. Among other features, it is often noted for its code-mixing with English, its archaisms originating from middle French, and its occasional loanwords from local Indigenous languages, such as the Eastern Algonquian languages. The word "Chiac" can also be used to describe an Acadian, though sometimes pejoratively, living along the southeast coast of New Brunswick.
