Pixartprinting is an Italian company operating in the online printing services sector. It is headquartered in Quarto d'Altino, Italy and is part of the Cimpress group.

Contents

Pixartprinting operates in 12 European markets (Italy, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, and Sweden) [1] .

The company employs 911 people between its Veneto site and a second production plant in Lavis (Trento), covering approximately 35,000 square meters of space.

The turnover for the 2023 financial year was 226 million euros, marking a +16% increase compared to the previous year.

History

Founded in 1994 by Matteo Rigamonti as a traditional printing company in Marghera (VE), Pixartprinting ventured onto the web in 2000, choosing to transform itself into a pure e-commerce business. In 2011, the ownership sold 75% of the company to Alcedo, a Italian growth capital investment fund. [2] The goal of this operation was to transition from an owner-operated business to a managerial one, capable of supporting the expansion project by providing not only capital but also strategic contributions to strengthen the business. [3]

In 2014, Alcedo sold 97% of Pixartprinting to Vistaprint (later Cimpress) [4] , a company listed on NASDAQ (CMPR). In July 2016, Paolo Roatta was appointed CEO of Pixartprinting. [5]

Business

Production and machinery

Pixartprinting is a manufacturing e-commerce company, and production is centralized at the headquarters in Quarto d'Altino. It features printing technologies such as HP, [6] Komori, Canon (with 4 Prostream), Durst, and at the Trentino facility in Lavis (TN), Heidelberg [7] .

Catalog and services

The catalog of over 400 products includes all types of communication media: from labels and adhesive stickers to business cards, books, magazines, and catalogs, packaging, and shoppers. Additionally, there is a wide range of banners and panels available in materials like forex, aluminum, plexiglass, cardboard, and corrugated plastic. All products are fully customizable by the customer, who can choose the type of paper or material, quantity, finishes, and delivery times. Many products like packaging and books are available from a single copy, and all catalog products can be delivered within 24 hours throughout the national territory.

Customers can exclusively view the offerings online, select the products of interest, proceed with a completely free guided quotation, and place the order by uploading the file to be printed. To meet the needs of non-professional customers, Pixartprinting launched Graphic Services [8] in 2020: at an extremely advantageous price (only €29.90 for an original project and only €14.90 to modify an existing project), professional designers create graphics for many of the site's products in direct collaboration with the customer. Additionally, in the early months of 2022, Pixartprinting launched Designer [9] , a tool that allows customers to independently design their own creations on the site and create the print file; there are hundreds of templates—pre-designed and fully modifiable graphics—that users can freely use to create their own communication media.

Customer service is provided by native-speaking operators who assist customers 7 days a week from 8 AM to 10 PM [10] .

Corporate ethics

Pixartprinting is also known for having developed a wide range of company benefits for its employees over the years, such as the "Mom Project" which supports pregnant employees from the first months with benefits like special company-paid leave, the possibility to request reduced working hours, and dedicated parking spaces. The company takes concrete care of its staff by promoting initiatives such as providing a prayer room for employees (there are 32 nationalities represented in the company), productivity-related cash bonuses, tax support services, and grocery delivery to the workplace [11] . Additionally, in 2022, Pixartprinting launched a Smart Working project that offers office employees a mix of in-office and remote workdays tailored to each worker's role and function. [12]

In October 2022, the company signed a highly innovative supplementary corporate agreement with trade unions: among the highlights are a series of initiatives to support parenthood, which for the first time includes specific benefits for fathers such as extended paternity leave, leave for child illness [13] , 9 paid hours for nursery school integration, and leave for children's specialist medical visits (3 hours, up to 14 years old, for a maximum of 3 times per year).

In 2023, the company provided 13,000 hours of training to employees and promoted a customized Master's program for company managers, designed by Cuoa Business School in Altavilla Vicentina. Additionally, a wellbeing platform was introduced, offering employees free consultations with psychologists, nutritionists, smoking cessation therapists, and posture educators [14] .

Other brands

In spring 2021, Pixartprinting launched Gifta [15] , a B2C e-commerce site dedicated to personalized gifts, offering a wide range of products on which customers can print their photos, images, or texts: canvas prints, photo books, calendars, mugs, cushions, backpacks, bags, totes, panels, and wall decorations in various materials.
