The Planning (Wales) Act 2015 (Welsh : Deddf Cynllunio (Cymru) 2015) is an act of the National Assembly for Wales relating to planning law.

Provisions

Developers are required to propose major development are required to demonstrate how they adhere to requirements relating to consultation through a written report on the consultation, as part of their submissions for planning applications. [1] [2] Developers must explain how they are going to address the issues raised in the consultation. [2]

The Welsh Government may designate a project as a "Development of National Significance". [3]

The act established a National Development Framework. [4]

Further developments

In 2025, the Welsh Government announced plans for a Planning (Wales) Bill and a Planning (Consequential Provisions) (Wales) Bill, which would consolidate the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, Planning Act 2008, Planning (Wales) Act 2015 into a single bilingual framework. [5]
