The song was recorded as an afterthought on Tank's last day in a rented studio: “I’ve always pushed to expand the brand sonically,” he says. “But ultimately, fans want a thing from you. They’re like, ‘OK, listen, you can dance around, go to a strip club, but at some point, I’m gonna need you to help me save my relationship.’ That’s their request.” [2]
Rolling Stone listed "Please Don't Go" among the 100 best R&B songs of the 21st century, commenting that on the song "[Tank] delivers a sensual performance as he dresses himself down for his infidelities, asking all men to do better." [3]
