Hear 'n Aid was a charity record recorded by a large ensemble of 40 heavy metal musicians and released in 1986. The project was organized by Ronnie James Dio, Jimmy Bain, and Vivian Campbell, all from the band Dio. Proceeds from the album were used to raise over $3 million for famine relief in Africa.

Founded in 1999, the group started their own record label, Cause4Concern Recordings, for releasing their own material in addition to recordings from similar artists within the field of drum and bass. Their debut album, Pandemic, was released on 26 August 2009. The CD release included a bonus dj-mix containing many of their previously released singles up to that date. Following the death of former member Edward Holmes (Optiv) in January 2020, the group is now recognized as a solo venture by Mark Clements (CZA), maintained in honor of his former production partner.

Freak Recordings is also the co-founding company behind Therapy Sessions drum and bass festivals.
Old Time Relijun is a band founded in Olympia, Washington, United States and a longtime member of K Records. Current members consist of Germaine Baca on drums, Aaron Hartman on upright bass, Ben Hartman on saxophones, and Arrington de Dionyso on electric guitar, vocals and bass clarinet. The reviews of the band are radically mixed among critics. Pitchfork Media gave a very critical review of their Uterus and fire album, while another praised the band for their "brilliance". The band first began recording under a home-made audio cassette label, Pine Cone Alley, and were later adopted by indie label K Records. Old Time Relijun are currently based in Portland, Oregon.
