Poizunus is a Canadian beatboxer.

History

Since touring England in 2005 [2] and performing at the Miami Winter Music Conference with artists DJ Craze and Killa Kela in 2006, Poizunus has been moderately successful both locally and internationally. Ranking in the top 10 at the World Beatboxing Championship in Germany and placing first at Scribble Jam's 2007 Beatbox Battle, [3] Poizunus is a relevant figure in the Canadian beatboxing scene.

In 2006, Poizunus was featured in Canada's MuchMusic program “Music is My Life”. The show took a backstage look at Poizunus' life and the 604 Hip Hop Expo Beatbox Battle, where he placed first. [4] Since then, he has been featured in two MuchVibe commercials, [5] and appeared on several television spots, including MTV Live Canada, [6] CityTV's Breakfast Television, MuchMusic's RapCity and Going Coastal. He has also opened for artists such as Method Man, Busta Rhymes, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Obie Trice. [7]

Growing up, Poizunus was heavily influenced by his parents’ collection of soulful music as well as his cousin's hip-hop compilations. That influence created a desire to be surrounded by music which led Poizunus into the world of vocal percussion. With over 10 years of experience in the music industry and 20 years of beatboxing, Poizunus now makes original music and works as a producer in the film, television and commercial markets.[ citation needed ]

Over the past few years, Poizunus' music has been featured on Modernbeats.com, the Coast2Coast Instrumental Mixtape series and collaborated with Cory Gunz from Young Money. While already receiving music placements with MTV2 USA and MuchMusic Canada, Poizunus is also working on projects with some upcoming Canadian, US and international artists.[ citation needed ]

Marcel Theo Hall, known professionally as Biz Markie, was an American rapper, DJ, and record producer. He was the victor at the Beatbox Battle World Championship in 2005 and retained the title until 2009.

The track "Wanna Know" can be heard on the HBO series Entourage in the episode "The Sundance Kids" and also in the game Fight Night: Round 3 for the Xbox 360 as well as the PS3. Scribble Jam

Scribble Jam was an annual hip hop music festival hosted in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dubbed "America's largest hip hop festival", sort of like Woodstock. It was co-founded in 1996 by "Fat" Nick Accurso, and Jason Brunson, founders of graffiti magazine Scribble, and DJ Mr Dibbs, in the parking lot of a local nightclub. The following year's event benefitted from better publicity, and included MC, DJ and breakdance battles for the first time.

Mr. Dibbs is an American DJ and hip hop producer. He is the Founder of 1200 HOBOS [dj/graff collective]. He was also one of the founders of Scribble Jam.

Promise Jason Jamal Shepherd, professionally known as Promise, is a Canadian rapper from Toronto. He is also 1/2 of Hip-Hop supergroup Perfeck Strangers, based in Scarborough, Ontario. Promise has collaborated with Jhené Aiko, Montell Jordan, LeCrae, No Malice, MC Jin, J. Ivy, Marco Polo, eLZhi of Slum Village, Royce Da 5'9" of Slaughterhouse, Rhymefest, and Ton3x.
