Pooja Sood is an Indian curator and art management consultant. She is also the founding member and Director of KHOJ International Artist's Association. [1]
Pooja is a mathematics graduate and has an MBA in Marketing (1984–86) from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune. Sood has an MA in Art History (1990–92) from Punjab University, Chandigarh. [2] [3] She also has a certificate in Cultural Policy from the CEU, Budapest (2007); and in Arts Management from the European Summer Academy of ICCM, Salzburg (2000). [4]
Pooja started her career with Delhi-based Eicher Gallery in 1994 where she was the curator and administrator till 1998. [5] During her time with them she curated over 20 exhibitions. In 1997, Sood along with Bharti Kher, Subodh Gupta, Manisha Parekh, Anita Dube and Prithpal S. Ladi founded Khoj International Artists’ Association. [6] [7] From 1998 - 2007, she coordinated the KHOJ International artist's workshops in Delhi (1998-2001), Bangalore (2002 -2003), Mumbai (2005), Kolkata (2006) and Srinagar (2007). From 2000 to 2010, she was the Regional Coordinator of the Triangle Arts Trust, UK where she researched and facilitated the establishment of independent not for profit visual art organizations in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal called SANA (South Asian Network for the Arts). [8] She was the Curator of the Apeejay Media Gallery from 2002 to 2007. From October 2007- December 2008, she was also the Director of Artists Pension Trust, Mumbai. [9] She was appointed as the artistic director and curator of 48 °C Public.Art.Ecology, a public art project, commissioned by the Goethe Institut in December 2008. [4]
Since 2009, she has been serving as the Director of ARThinkSouthAsia (ATSA), an arts management programme for young managers in the cultural sphere. [10] [11] From November 2015 to February 2019; Sood also served as the Director General of Jawahar Kala Kendra, an arts centre in Jaipur established by the Rajasthan Government. [12] [13] Sood has been on several international juries, like the IAPA award of the Institute of Public Art, Shanghai (2014), the Asia Pacific Breweries Signature prize hosted by the Singapore Art Museum (2014–15) and the Korean Art prize, Seoul (2013). Sood is currently working on curating the Pune Biennale which is to be held in November–December 2019. [14] [15]
Sood was the recipient of a Junior Fellowship from the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry, Government of India and developed a Directory of Funding for the Arts in 1998. [4] She is also a Chevening scholar on the Clore Leadership Programme, UK (2009-2011). [13]
She is the editor of The Khoj Book Of Contemporary Indian Art: 1997- 2007, published by HarperCollins, 2010. [16]
Ranjit Hoskote is an Indian poet, art critic, cultural theorist and independent curator. He has been honoured by the Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, with the Sahitya Akademi Golden Jubilee Award and the Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation. In 2022, Hoskote received the 7th JLF-Mahakavi Kanhaiyalal Sethia Award for Poetry.

Akbar Padamsee was an Indian artist and painter, considered one of the pioneers in modern Indian painting along with S.H. Raza, F.N. Souza and M.F. Husain. Over the years he also worked with various mediums from oil painting, plastic emulsion, water colour, sculpture, printmaking, to computer graphics, and photography. In addition, he worked as a film maker, sculptor, photographer, engraver, and lithographer. Today his paintings are among the most valued by modern Indian artists. His painting Reclining Nude was sold for US$1,426,500 at Sotheby's in New York on 25 March 2011.
Sonia Khurana is an Indian artist. She works with lens-based media: photo, video, and the moving image, as well as performance, text, drawing, sound, music, voice, and installation.
Haku Vajubhai Shah was an Indian painter, Gandhian, cultural anthropologist and author on folk and tribal art and culture. His art belonged to the Baroda Group and his works are considered in the line of artists who brought themes of folk or tribal art to Indian art.
Bina Sarkar Ellias is a poet. She is editor, designer and publisher of International Gallerie, a global arts and ideas journal (www.gallerie.net) founded by her in 1997. Geeta Kapur is a noted Indian art critic, art historian and curator based in New Delhi. She was one of the pioneers of critical art writing in India, and who, as Indian Express noted, has "dominated the field of Indian contemporary art theory for three decades now". Her writings include artists' monographs, exhibition catalogues, books, and sets of widely anthologized essays on art, film, and cultural theory.
Riyas Komu is an Indian multimedia artist and curator based in Mumbai. He has invested his time in art education and developing art infrastructure in India. Komu's works are inspired by social conflicts and political movements and topics like migration and displacement. His hyper-realistic oil portraits of people resemble socialist-realist propaganda art, with one of his portraits titled Why Everybody should Look Like Mao.
Bose Krishnamachari is an Indian painter and artist-curator based in Mumbai, India. He was born in 1963 at Mangattukara village near Angamaly, Kerala. He had done his early schooling at Government Higher Secondary School, Puliyanam. He took his BFA from Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai in 1991, and then completed his MFA from Goldsmiths' College, University of London in 2000.
The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an international exhibition of contemporary art held in the city of Kochi in Kerala, India. It is the largest art exhibition in the country and the biggest contemporary art festival in Asia. The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an initiative of the Kochi Biennale Foundation with support from the Government of Kerala. The concept of Kochi-Muziris Biennale was ideated and executed by Dr. Venu Vasudevan IAS, who was the culture Secretary, Government of Kerala. The exhibition is set in spaces across Kochi, with shows being held in existing galleries, halls, and site-specific installations in public spaces, heritage buildings and disused structures.
Dhaka Art Summit is an art summit held in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is organised by Samdani Art Foundation, a non- profit art infrastructure development organisation founded by Nadia Samdani. and Rajeeb Samdani in 2011.
The Samdani Art Foundation is a private art foundation founded in 2011 in Dhaka, Bangladesh that aims to increase artistic engagement between the art and architecture of Bangladesh and the rest of the world. It is best known for producing the bi-annual Dhaka Art Summit, which is the highest daily visited contemporary art exhibition in the world, welcoming over 477,000 visitors in its fifth edition in February 2020. The foundation produces education programmes and exhibitions across the year in collaboration with Bangladeshi and international institutions, and is one of the most active art institutions in South Asia.
KHOJ also known as KHOJ, International Artists' Association is a non-profit organisation established to support contemporary art and emerging artists in South Asia. It is based out of New Delhi, India. KHOJ was founded in 1997 by artists like Anita Dube, Subodh Gupta, Bharti Kher, Manisha Parekh and Pooja Sood, who is also currently its Director. The studio premises are located in Malviya Nagar in Delhi.
Anita Dube is an Indian contemporary artist whose work has been widely exhibited in India.
Chintan Upadhyay is an Indian artist. He was awarded the Charles Wallace Foundation Award for Residency in Bristol, UK in 2012. He began as a painter, but now creates sculptures and installations, the surfaces of which he paints.

Vibha Galhotra, born 1978 is an Indian conceptual artist based in New Delhi. Her work includes large-scale installations, sculptures, drawings, films that explore themes of ecological and environmental concerns. Her works address the shifting topography of the world under the impact of globalization and growth. She sees herself as being part of the restructuring of culture, society and geography – of New Delhi, and the world.
Anuradha Thakur is an Indian painting artist in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. Known for her luminescent paintings, her artwork is a display of the inherent Indian culture and traditions. She is also a TEDx speaker.
