Prague Film School is an international institution offering practical training in filmmaking and screen acting, based in Prague, Czech Republic. The school provides both interdisciplinary and specialized studies in film production disciplines, including directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing, as well as programs in Acting for Film and Documentary Film.

Overview

Prague Film School combines the traditions of European art-house cinema with American independent filmmaking styles. Instruction is conducted in English, catering to a diverse student body and faculty from around the world. The institution has affiliate study-abroad partnerships with several prominent U.S. universities, such as Northwestern University [1] , Oberlin College [2] , Sarah Lawrence College.

The Prague Film School appeared in The Hollywood Reporter ’s ranking of the best international film schools in 2022 and 2023. [3] [4]

Prague Film School alumni are frequently represented at prestigious film festivals and award platforms, including the Locarno and Tribeca Film Festival. [5] [6]

Departments and programs

Prague Film School offers full-time studies in Narrative Filmmaking, Documentary Filmmaking, and Acting for Film. The Acting for Film program was founded by American casting director Nancy Bishop. [7] It offers also a second year course with the participation of internationally celebrated filmmakers such as Alejandro Hernandez and Mariano Barroso.

European Film Award for Best Film is one of the annual European Film Awards, presented by the European Film Academy to recognize the best in European filmmaking. It was first awarded in 1988 with Polish film A Short Film About Killing, directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski, being the first recipient of the award.

<i>Thithi</i> (film) 2015 Indian film

Thithi (Funeral) is a 2015 Indian Kannada drama film co-written and directed by Raam Reddy. Consisting of a cast of non-professional actors from villages in the Mandya district of Karnataka, the film is a (semi-) light-hearted story about three generations of men reacting to the death of their 101-year old patriarch. It is an Indian-American co-production, jointly produced by Pratap Reddy from Prspctvs Productions and Sunmin Park from Maxmedia.

Raam Reddy is an Indian film director, writer and photographer. He made his directorial debut with the 2016 Kannada film Thithi, which premiered at the 68th Locarno International Film Festival on 8 August 2015, where it won the Golden Leopard in the "Filmmakers of the Present" category as well as the First Feature award.

<i>Stray Bullets</i> (film) 2016 American film

Stray Bullets is a 2016 American thriller film written, directed, edited, and composed by Jack Fessenden. Fessenden also produced it with his parents, Larry Fessenden and Beck Underwood. The film stars Jack Fessenden and Asa Spurlock as two teenagers who encounter, and are kidnapped by, mobsters played by James LeGros, Larry Fessenden, and John Speredakos. It premiered at the Oldenburg International Film Festival on September 16, 2016, and was released in the US on February 10, 2017.
