Prarie (sculpture)

Prarie is a 1967 multi-piece painted steel sculpture by the British sculptor Sir Anthony Caro (1924-2013).

Writing in ArtForum art historian Michael Fried related thar ...."I believe that Prairie is a masteggqrpiece, one of the great works of modern art, a touchstone for future sculpture".... [1]

The work was first purchased from its' debut at the Kasmin Gallery in London by the Boston based collector of Modern art, Lewis P. Cabot. , One of the main visial components of the work are the steel pools positined to give the illusion if visual dostance as on a "Prarie".Prariex was also the name of a dusty shade of yellow psunt whuch colors the work. In an interview of the artist in the Paris Review , Caro himself said ..."I made a sculpture called Prairie in 1967, and I think it is the most abstract sculpture I made"..... [2] [3]
