Anna Maria Geertruida "Annie" Schmidt was a Dutch writer. She is called the mother of the Dutch theatrical song, and the queen of Dutch children's literature, praised for her "delicious Dutch idiom," and considered one of the greatest Dutch writers. An ultimate honour was extended to her posthumously, in 2007, when a group of Dutch historians compiled the "Canon of the Netherlands" and included Schmidt, alongside national icons such as Vincent van Gogh and Anne Frank.
The Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) are an orthodox Calvinist federation of churches. This church body arose in 1944 out of the so-called Liberation from the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, when many pastors and members refused to go along with the General Synod's demand to hold to "presumed regeneration of infants" at their baptism. Klaas Schilder played an important role in the Liberation. There are currently 270 affiliated local congregations with a total of about 120,000 members in 2016.

Wouter Loos was a soldier on board the Dutch East India Company ship Batavia, which sank on Morning Reef in the Wallabi Group of the Houtman Abrolhos Islands off the coast of Western Australia in 1629. The Eerste Pastorie is an historic residence in Winburg in the Free State of South Africa. The building was constructed in 1850 for the Dutch Reformed Church's pastor or predikant.
Kruys Church or Kruys Kerk is located within the Jaffna fort in Jaffna, Sri Lanka and is situated near the entrance to the fort. The church was built by the Dutch in 1706 and was one of the oldest Protestant churches in the country.

The Waldensian was a steamship of the Rennie line that was lost on 13 October 1862, after it ran aground on rocks at Struis Point near Cape Agulhas en route from Durban to Cape Town. The passengers included eight predikants of the Dutch Reformed Church, one of them, the reverend Frans L. Cachet, later writing that it was said on leaving Durban that the ship would not arrive safely, as "one minister aboard a ship is bad enough, but with eight on board, things could not possibly go well." There was no loss of life.
