Preston Corporal (born March 9, 1987) is a Liberian former footballer who played in the Liberian Premier League, Malaysian Super League, National Football League, National Premier League, and the Canadian Soccer League.

Playing career

Corporal began his career in 2002 with Watanga FC of the Liberian Second Division League, and at the conclusion of the season he was named the Liberia Football Association Most Valuable Player. [1] In 2005, he went overseas to sign with ATM FA of the Malaysia Super League. Where in his debut season he bagged a total of 36 goals in all competitions. [2] The following season he was loaned to a four-month deal to Mohammedan S.C. of the National Football League, [3] [4] to help the club escape relegation. [5] In 2009, he signed with Village United F.C. of the National Premier League. In 2010, Corporal signed with Hamilton Croatia of the Canadian Soccer League. [6] He made his debut for the club on June 11, 2010 in a match against Brantford Galaxy. [7] He helped Croatia finish third in the overall standings, and clinched a postseason berth.

In the playoffs Corporal contributed by scoring two goals in the quarterfinal series match against TFC Academy. [8] [9] He featured in the CSL Championship match against Brantford Galaxy, but Hamilton would lose the match to a score of 3-0. [10] In 2012, former Hamilton Croatia head coach Ron Davidson recruited Corporal when he was appointed head coach for Brantford Galaxy. [11] He made his debut for the club on May 6, 2012 in a match against York Region Shooters. [12] In 2013, he signed with Niagara United, and his signing was announced on May 8, 2013. [13] [14]

International career

Corporal made his debut for the Liberia national football team on October 11, 2008 in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF Second Round match against Algeria. [15]

The Attak denied Serbia their championship title by defeating them 3-2 in a penalty shootout. The victory marked the organizations first championship title, and the return of the championship to Quebec since the 1978 season when Montreal Castors competed in the National Soccer League. Throughout the regular season both Serbia, and Trois-Rivieres won their respective divisions.

Brantford Galaxy SC won their first championship in their inaugural season with a 3–0 win over Hamilton Croatia in the CSL Championship Final at the Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto on October 31, 2010. The CSL administration restructured the league by combining both the International & National divisions to form the CSL First Division with a single table structure. The regular season title was claimed by the York Region Shooters, while the Serbian White Eagles Res. won their first reserve league championship.

The Canadian Soccer League Awards is an annual awards ceremony for several individual performances at the end of the season. The event was established in 1998, when the Canadian National Soccer League merged with the stillborn Ontario Professional Soccer League to form the Canadian Professional Soccer League. The club ended their CSL campaign by claiming their third division title by finishing first in the First Division. In the postseason York Region faced an early departure after a defeat to Toronto Croatia in the preliminary round.

The 2011 CSL season was the 14th season in York Region Shooters participation in the Canadian Soccer League. The club ended their CSL campaign by securing the final postseason berth in the First Division. In the postseason York Region defeated division champions SC Toronto in the preliminary round, but were eliminated from the competition in the following round to Toronto Croatia. While in the Second Division their reserve team clinched a playoff berth after finishing third in the East Conference standings. Kadian Lecky was Vaughan's top goalscorer for the sixth consecutive time scoring a personal record of 15 goals.
