The Pro Athlé Tour (formerly the Alma Athlé Tour) is a series of the foremost annual outdoor track and field meetings in France. It is organised by the Ligue Nationale d’Athlétisme (LNA) and the Fédération française d'athlétisme. The series was sponsored by Groupe Lagardère from 2006 to 2008 and Alma Consulting Group held the title sponsor role in 2009 and 2010.

Track and field is a sport which includes athletic contests established on the skills of running, jumping, and throwing. The name is derived from the sport's typical venue: a stadium with an oval running track enclosing a grass field where the throwing and some of the jumping events take place. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running, and race walking.

The meetings feature elite-level competition of both an international and national nature. The world best in the 2000 metres steeplechase was beaten twice on the 2010 tour, first by Bouabdellah Tahri and then by Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad. [1] [2] At the first meeting of the 2011 series, Christophe Lemaitre improved the French record in the 100 metres to 9.96 seconds in Montreuil. [3]

Steeplechase (athletics) obstacle race in athletics

The steeplechase is an obstacle race in athletics, which derives its name from the steeplechase in horse racing. The foremost version of the event is the 3000 metres steeplechase. The 2000 metres steeplechase is the next most common distance. The 1900 Olympics featured a 2500 metres steeplechase and a 4000 metres steeplechase, and a 2590 metres steeplechase was held at the 1904 Olympics. A 1000 metres steeplechase is occasionally used in youth athletics.

Bouabdallah "Bob" Tahri is a retired middle-distance and long-distance runner of Algerian descent, competing internationally for France. He competes mainly in the 3000 m steeplechase distance. He also competes in the 2000 m steeplechase, 1500 m, mile, 3000 m, 5000 m, 10000 m and cross-country running. He has won several medals at major international championships such as the World Championships, European Championships and the European Indoor Championships. Moreover, he has won medals in the European Cup, European Team Championships, IAAF World Cup, IAAF Continental Cup and the IAAF World Athletics Final.

Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad French track and field athlete

Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad is a French middle-distance runner of Algerian descent who mainly competes in the 3000 metres steeplechase. He has won medals in major international competitions such as the Olympic Games, World Championships, European Championships and European Indoor Championships.

Reims, a city in the Grand Est region of France, lies 129 km (80 mi) east-northeast of Paris. The 2013 census recorded 182,592 inhabitants in the city of Reims proper, and 317,611 inhabitants in the metropolitan area. Its primary river, the Vesle, is a tributary of the Aisne.

A sixth meeting, the Meeting Lille Métropole, was previously part of the circuit but it was dropped for the 2011 series. [4] [5]

He is the world's fifth best ever triple jumper outdoors, with his best mark of 18.04 metres achieved in winning the final and gold medal at the 2013 World Championships.

Martial Mbandjock is a French sprinter who specializes in the 100 metres. His personal best time is 10.06 seconds, achieved in July 2008 in Albi.

DécaNation is an annual track and field meeting organized by the French Athletics Federation since 2005. The competition comprises national teams of athletes competing in a decathlon, with each athlete competing in their specialised event to score points for their respective countries. The first five editions took place at the Stade Charléty in Paris, but in 2010 it was held at Annecy, in 2011 at Nice and in 2012 it was at Albi. It is sponsored by SEAT and is referred to as the SEAT DecaNation.

Christophe Lemaitre French athlete

Christophe Lemaitre is a French sprinter who specialises in the 100 and 200 metres. He became the first white male athlete to break the 10-second barrier in an officially timed 100 m event in 2010 and remained the only one to achieve the feat until joined by Ramil Guliyev. Lemaitre has run a sub-10 second 100 m on seven occasions: three times in 2010 and four times in 2011. He won a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m relay at the 2012 London Olympic Games and in the 200 metres at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

At the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie, the athletics events were held at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium from 1 to 6 October. A total of 46 track and field events were contested.

Florence Edem Apefa Ezeh is a female hammer thrower from Togo, who previously represented France during her career. She set her personal best on August 9, 2002 at the European Championships in Munich. Ezeh attended the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Kristina Gadschiew Russian-born pole vaulter for Germany

Kristina Gadschiew is a German pole vaulter who has competed at the World Championship-level. She has also reached the podium at the Summer Universiade on two occasions – 2007 and 2009. She has a personal best vault of 4.66 m indoor. Gadschiew represents the sports club LAZ Zweibrücken.

Simon Denissel is a French middle-distance runner who competes in the 1500 metres and 3000 metres. His 1500 m personal best is 3:37.70 minutes. He was the bronze medallist in the event at the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships. He trains with Lille Métropole Athlétisme.

The Stéphane Diagana athletics Hall or Lyon Duchère athletics Hall is an indoor stadium of athletics located in the quarter of fr:La Duchère near the Stadium of La Duchère in Lyon. Opened in October 2012 it was inaugurated on 9 November 2012. It is named after the French athlete Stéphane Diagana.
