The Puerto Rico women's national water polo team is the representative for Puerto Rico in international women's water polo.

Recent History

Puerto Rico qualified for the 2019 Pan American Games on the back of a second place finish at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games which was held in Barranquilla, Colombia. After losing their opening game of the tournament against the United States, [1] they recorded a win over Venezuela 9-5. [2]

Elizabeth Anne "Betsey" Armstrong is an American water polo goalkeeper, who won gold medals with the United States women's national water polo team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2007 and 2011 Pan American Games, and 2007 and 2009 world championships. She is a leading goalkeeper in Olympic water polo history, with 102 saves. Armstrong attended Huron High School in Ann Arbor and was a three-year letterwinner on her water polo team. She then went on to graduate from the University of Michigan in 2005, where she was the goalkeeper for the women's water polo team. Betsey graduated with a bachelor's degree in English language and Literature. She is currently the record holder at University of Michigan with 350 saves.

Margaret Ann Steffens is an American professional water polo player. She won the gold medal with the United States at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Steffens set a new Olympic record for the most number of goals scored by an individual player in women's water polo at the Olympic Games.

Water polo competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held from July 7 to 15 at the Markham Pan Am Centre in Markham. The water polo competitions was the first sporting event to be conducted at the games, beginning three days before the opening ceremony. This is because the Pan American Games were scheduled to be held roughly around the same time as the 2015 World Aquatics Championships scheduled for Kazan, Russia, thus the competition was moved forward to allow for a sufficient gap between the two events. A total of eight men's and women's teams competed in each respective tournament.

The women's water polo tournament at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, organised by the FINA, was held in Budapest, Hungary from 16 to 28 July 2017.

Water polo competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru were held from July 28 to August 10. The venue for the competition was the water polo pool located at the Villa María del Triunfo cluster. A total of eight men's and eight women's teams competed in each tournament. This meant a total of 176 athletes were scheduled to compete.

Madeline Musselman is an American water polo player. Maddie was named Woman's water polo MVP after her USA Team won gold in Tokyo at the 2020ne Summer Olympics. She was one of the highest leading scorers with 18 goals. It is the fourth time in her career that she has been named the MVP of a major international tournament as she was named the MVP of the FINA World League Super Final in 2019 and again in 2021. She was also named the MVP of the FINA World Championships in 2017 where Team USA won gold; scored 16 goals in six games, including hat trick in 13–6 final-round win over Spain. Additionally, the four-time First-Team All-American, at UCLA, was also named the 2021 and 2022 Women's Total Player of the Year by (Total Waterpolo).

The women's water polo tournament at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships was held from 14 to 26 July.

Jamie Valeri Neushul is an American water polo player who is a member of the United States women's national water polo team. She became world champion at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships and was a member of the team at the 2017 Summer Universiade, 2017 FINA Women's Water Polo World League, 2018 FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup, 2019 Pan American Games, and 2019 FINA Women's Water Polo World League. She will be part of the team in the women's water polo tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Amanda Longan is an American water polo goalkeeper and member of the United States women's national water polo team. She became world champion at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. She also participated at among others the 2017 Summer Universiade, 2017 FINA Women's Water Polo World League, 2018 FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup, 2019 Pan American Games, and 2019 FINA Women's Water Polo World League. She was part of the gold medal winning US team in the women's water polo tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Jordan Raney is an American water polo player who is a member of the United States women's national water polo team. She was part of the gold medal-winning American team at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest.
