Qatar International School (QIS) is a British-patterned international school which follows the IGCSE/A-level system. It is located in downtown Doha. The school provides education from reception (foundation stage) to Year 13.
QIS was founded by Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed bin Thani Al Thani and the first Principal, Joyce Griffin, in 1977. It is one of the first British-patterned international schools in Qatar.
In 2001, the school relocated to the Al Dafna district, and currently has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students.
Then, in 2020, QIS acquired two international accreditations:
Firstly, QIS was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in every category of the UK government’s British School Overseas (BSO) inspection framework. [1]
Secondly, in the same year, QIS became the first school globally to receive Council for International Schools (CIS) accreditation through a new fast-track process designed for outstanding schools. [2]
QIS went on to become the only school in the Middle East accredited to deliver OLEVI training courses straight from the UK, such as The Outstanding Teacher Programme. The school also partners with many other training providers. [3]
Students are taught in Key Stages from Early Years and Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5, and examinations are taken in GCSE, IGCSE and A Levels using UK examination boards.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an English language based secondary qualification similar to the GCSE and is recognised in the United Kingdom as being equivalent to the GCSE for the purposes of recognising prior attainment. It was developed by Cambridge Assessment International Education. The examination boards Edexcel, Learning Resource Network (LRN), and Oxford AQA also offer their own versions of International GCSEs. Students normally begin studying the syllabus at the beginning of Year 10 and take the test at the end of Year 11. However, in some international schools, students can begin studying the syllabus at the beginning of Year 9 and take the test at the end of Year 10.
Tanglin Trust School (TTS) is an international school in Singapore that runs as a non-profit organisation. Established in 1925, Tanglin Trust School provides British-based learning with an international perspective for students aged 3–18. There are approximately 2,800 students at Tanglin, with 750 in the Infant School, 750 in the Junior School and 1,300 in the Senior School and Sixth Form. Each school has its own building and facilities within the one campus. This School provides a British Currciculum that offers the IGCSE Curriculum in Years 10 and 11 and is the only school to offer both A-Level and IB Diploma in the Sixth Form
Garden International School (GIS) is a private, co-educational international school in Mont Kiara, Segambut, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Founded in 1951, GIS is one of the oldest and most prestigious private schools in Malaysia. GIS is part of the Taylor's Education Group and a member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA).
Jerudong International School is a co-educational, boarding and day school in Brunei, Southeast Asia. It has over 1680 students - of which around 200 are boarding students. Less than 50% of its student body are Bruneians, with the remainder fulfilled by students from 55 countries. Jerudong International School first opened its doors for primary education in January 1997 and subsequently for secondary in October of the same year. JIS offers a British International education.
Qatar University is a public research university located on the northern outskirts of Doha, Qatar. It is the only public university in the country. The university hosts twelve colleges – Arts and Sciences, Business and Economics, Education, Engineering, Law, Sharia and Islamic Studies, Pharmacy, College of Health Science, College of Medicine, College of Dental Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of nursing, and college of sport Science.
The Edron Academy A.C. is a non-profit school British international school located in Álvaro Obregón, Mexico City.
The Cambridge School is a private international school that is located in Doha, Qatar, the school provides an education based on the National Curriculum for England to students from Kindergarten to Year 13. The school prepares students for the IGCSE, AS and A Level, following the Cambridge International Examinations Board. The school has grown from just under 300 students seven years ago to almost over 1,500 students with over 60 different nationalities. Some of the teachers are from the United Kingdom, although most of them are from South Africa and India. The school is founded by Mohammed Taleb Mohammed Al Khouri and managed by the Taleb Group. The company also own and manage two other schools in Qatar, Cambridge International School for Girls and Doha Modern Indian School.
St Andrews International School Bangkok is a British International School founded in 1997 that provides a British-style education and curriculum to children ranging from Foundation Stage 1 to High School. Two Boats School is in Two Boats Village on Ascension Island. It is part of the Ascension Island Government (AIG) and provides education to all children living on the island from Foundation Stage to Year 11. There are currently 100 children and 21 staff.
Garden International School Bangkok is a British curriculum international school in Sathon District, Bangkok, Thailand that runs from Early Years up to Year 13. The school is part of the MBF Taylors Ltd. Education Group, which owns schools in Malaysia, Rayong in Thailand and also English and bilingual schools in both Thailand and Malaysia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the ministry responsible for handling Qatar's external relations as well as its diplomatic efforts, including the maintenance of its diplomatic missions across the globe. The current minister is Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
Doha Academy is an independent, privately owned day school situated in Doha, Qatar. It is open to students aged 3 – 18 or Kindergarten to Year 13, and follows the national curriculum for England. The school prepares students for the University of Cambridge International and EDEXCEL examinations.
Park Lane International School is an independent international day school located in Prague, the Czech Republic. The Park Lane student community consists of 600+ students, representing more than 40 nationalities. The home to foreign student ratio is 54% to 46%.
Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School, or Bangkok Prep, is an independent international school based on the National Curriculum of England located in Bangkok, Thailand. Established in 2003, the school is now in its 20th year. 1,600 students are enrolled at Bangkok Prep, representing 50 nationalities.
Cairo English School (CES) is a member of Esol Education, formerly known as Educational Services Overseas Limited (ESOL). CES opened in 2006 in Cairo and provides British-based international education culminating in Cambridge International Education IGCSE exam and the A-Level and IB Diploma offered as alternatives in the Sixth Form, CES is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA), British Schools of the Middle East (BSME), and has been an International Baccalaureate (IB) school since April 2010.
Sherborne Qatar consists of four English-speaking schools operated in Qatar by the UK-based Sherborne International. The four schools are Sherborne Qatar Senior School for pupils aged 11 to 18, Sherborne Qatar Prep School and Sherborne Qatar Junior School both for pupils aged 3 to 11 and Sherborne Qatar School for Girls for pupils aged 3 to18

Al Bateen World Academy, formerly known as Al Bateen Academy or Al Bateen Secondary School, is a private, British curriculum school in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Al Bateen educates students from years 7-13 in the British curriculum. It is affiliated with Al Mushrif Primary school, which operates from the same building.
Stafford Sri Lankan School Doha was inaugurated in October 2001 under the patronage of former Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar, Meerasahib Mahroof. The school is affiliated with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Qatar and runs as a nonprofit organization. The Patron of the school is the serving Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar. The school is governed by a board of trustees.
Surabaya European School (SES), Indonesia is a British international school that was established in 1997 as the first Montessori school in Surabaya with an AMI -trained teacher. In 2001, in collaboration with the British International School Jakarta, the school grew to embrace the British National Curriculum. SES subsequently progressed to full Cambridge International Examinations accreditation in 2011 and administered its first on site Cambridge examinations in a newly constructed campus the same year. In 2015, SES adopted the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), to run in unison with the Cambridge International Curriculum, for students in year 2-6.
