Qazim Sejdini

Qazim Sejdini (born February 12, 1951)-(Deceased June 12, 2024) was an Albanian politician serving as mayor of Elbasan, Albania since 2007. Sejdini was nominated by the SPA to run for mayor and won in the February 18 election. He was sworn into office in May 2007 and was mayor of Elbasan until 2019. [1]

Gjergjan is a village and a former municipality in the Elbasan County, central Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Elbasan. The population at the 2011 census was 5,126. The municipal unit consists of the villages Bujares, Gjonme, Gjergjan, Keshtjelle, Koder Bujares, Muriqan and Thane. The name of the village comes from the Albanian name Gjergj, therefore a Gjergj founded this village. Gjergj is the Albanian name for George.

Papër is a village and a former municipality in the Elbasan County, central Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Elbasan. The population at the 2011 census was 6,348. It is located along the Elbasan-Rrogozhinë-Durrës highway, 13 km (8 mi) west of Elbasan. It was founded on July 26, 1992. Within its 52 kilometers of borders, the municipal unit of Papër consists of 13 villages: Papër, Vidhas, Broshke, Balldre, Murres, Valas, Lugaj, Pajun, Ullishtaj, Papër-Sollak, Vidhas-Asgjel, Bizhute, and Jatesh.

The Albanian local elections of 2011 took place on 8 May 2011 in Albania. Electors were asked to elect their municipality's mayor, municipal council members, municipal unit mayor, and municipal unit members. The elections were administrated by the Central Election Commission of Albania. Only 9 of the 384 winning candidates were women.

The Qafa e Vishës bus accident occurred on 21 May 2012, at Qafa e Vishës near Himarë, Albania, when a bus plunged 80 metres (260 ft) off a cliff. Most of the victims were students of Aleksandër Xhuvani University of Elbasan. The driver is also believed to have been killed. The students were travelling from Elbasan to Sarandë.
