The Quasar 2000 is a series of Czech high-wing, single-place, hang gliders that was designed and produced by Quasar of Dolní Bečva. Now out of production, when the series was available the models were each supplied complete and ready-to-fly. [1]

Quasar is a Czech aircraft manufacturer based in Dolní Bečva and founded by Karel Haman. The company specializes in the design and manufacture of hang gliders in the form of ready-to-fly aircraft, plus ultralight trike wings.

Dolní Bečva Village in Vsetín District of Zlín region

Dolní Bečva is a village in Vsetín District, Zlín Region, Czech Republic. It has a population of 1,900 (2015). Located along road E442 between Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and Prostřední Bečva, the village is nestled in a valley of the Beskid Mountains. Dolní means "lower" in Czech, and the Bečva is a river that snakes through the village. Dolní Bečva is a popular summertime destination for athletes and nature enthusiasts, who visit the village to go hiking, bicycle riding, fishing, or mushrooming. The village is at the base of Radhošť, a mountain on which is located a chapel dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius. Moreover, the famous Radegast sculpture by Albin Polasek, is actually located within village territory.

Design and development

The 2000 is made from aluminum tubing, with the double-surface wing covered in Dacron sailcloth. The nose angle for all models is 132°. The models are each named for their wing area in square metres. [1]

Small-sized model for lighter pilots. Its 10.6 m (34.8 ft) span wing is cable braced from a single kingpost. The wing area is 13 m2 (140 sq ft) and the aspect ratio is 7:1. The pilot hook-in weight range is 65 to 90 kg (143 to 198 lb). [1]

Mid-sized model for mid-weight pilots. Its 10.3 m (33.8 ft) span wing is cable braced from a single kingpost. The wing area is 13.6 m2 (146 sq ft) and the aspect ratio is 7.8:1. The pilot hook-in weight range is 75 to 110 kg (165 to 243 lb). [1]

Large-sized model for heavier pilots. Its 10.4 m (34.1 ft) span wing is cable braced from a single kingpost. The wing area is 14.8 m2 (159 sq ft) and the aspect ratio is 7.4:1. The pilot hook-in weight range is 85 to 120 kg (187 to 265 lb). [1]
