Quincia Gumbs-Marie is a politician and environmentalist from Anguilla,who was elected in June 2020 representing the Anguilla Progressive Movement to the Government of Anguilla. [1] [2] Her first role in office was as Parliamentary Secretary of Information Technology,Natural Resources,Economic Development and Tourism. [1] The timing meant that she became responsible for developing a strategy for the re-opening of tourism due to COVID-19 in Anguilla. [1] [3] At COP26 she spoke on the work of the Blue Anguilla (BANG) Committee,which works to amplify the role of the blue economy in Anguilla. [1] [4] [5] In July 2022 a new ministry was formed,which Gumbs-Marie leads as Honourable Minister of Sustainability,Innovation and the Environment. [1] [6] [7] She has spoken out on how sustainability and economic development in Anguilla are intrinsically linked. [8]
Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles,lying east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and directly north of Saint Martin. The territory consists of the main island of Anguilla,approximately 16 miles long by 3 miles (5 km) wide at its widest point,together with a number of much smaller islands and cays with no permanent population. General elections were held in Anguilla on 16 March 1994. Despite a large drop in the Anguilla United Party's vote share,the loss of the Road North constituency to the Anguilla Democratic Party gave the second and third parties enough seats to form a coalition government. Hubert Hughes of the Anguilla United Party,who had stood on a pro-independence platform,was appointed Chief Minister following the elections. The small Anguilla for Good Government party replaced the Party for Anguilla's Culturisation and Economy as the fourth party,but like its predecessor,failed to win representation. The future Chief Minister Osbourne Fleming held his seat of Sandy Hill as an independent.

On May 10,2022,Dr Timothy Harris,having lost the support of the elected majority to function as Prime Minister and facing a historic Motion of No Confidence in the National Parliament,decided to dissolve the Parliament and purported to revoke the appointment of more than 50% of his former Cabinet,including the Hon Mark Brantley. Brantley previously served as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly of Saint Kitts and Nevis . He is married and has 2 daughters. Brantley read law at the University of the West Indies,obtained his Legal Education Certificate of Merit from Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica and also holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford,St. Catherine College. Prior to entering politics,Brantley worked as an attorney.
