Quinton Crawford (born September 18, 1990) is an American basketball coach who is the head coach of the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League. He recently served as an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats, and then started his career as video coordinator and assistant coach.

Early life

Raised in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey, Crawford played prep basketball at Old Bridge High School. [1] [2]

College career

After two years at Middlesex County College, he transferred to the University of Arizona and played for the Wildcats for two seasons (2011–12 and 2012–13), reaching the Sweet Sixteen.

Coaching career

Before working in the NBA, Crawford spent two seasons (2013–14 and 2014–15) with Pepperdine University men's basketball staff as a graduate manager and video coordinator. [3]

Crawford has also served as assistant video coordinator for the Sacramento Kings in one season, Charlotte Hornets in one season, and two seasons with the Orlando Magic while under Frank Vogel. [4] During the 2018–19 season, Crawford was also considered a player development coach for the Hornets.

In summer 2019, he was hired by Frank Vogel as assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. [5] Crawford won his first championship when the Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in 6 games of the 2020 NBA Finals.

In 2022, Crawford was hired as assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks under Jason Kidd's coaching staff.

On June 1, 2023, it was reported that Crawford was hired as an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns under head coach Frank Vogel. [6] The move was made official alongside the rest of the team's new coaching staff on June 21, 2023. [7] Crawford would later be fired alongside the rest of Frank Vogel's coaching staff (outside of David Fizdale) on May 12, 2024, following the replacement of Vogel with Mike Budenholzer. [8]

On October 7, 2024, Crawford was hired by the Stockton Kings to be their new head coach. [9]

The 2021–22 Phoenix Suns season was their 54th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as well as their 29th season at the currently named Footprint Center, their first full season under that name after taking over the naming rights to the previously named Phoenix Suns Arena on July 16, 2021, during the 2021 NBA Finals.

The 2024–25 Phoenix Suns season is the 57th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as well as their 32nd season at Footprint Center. It is also their second full season under the ownership group led by Mat Ishbia and Justin Ishbia after the brothers purchased the team on February 8, 2023, and their second season with their "Big Three" superteam of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal together. This will be their second season in a row with a new head coach taking over since Monty Williams' firing following the announcement of Frank Vogel's firing on May 9, 2024, this time having 2021 NBA Finals champion coach Mike Budenholzer taking over as the new head coach two days later. This is also their first season since the 2019–20 season where the Suns would properly utilize the NBA G League again with their own squad after previously selling the Northern Arizona Suns to the Detroit Pistons during that season's suspension/reinstatement period and subsequently shutting down that G League team for the following season afterward in a move unrelated to their sale, thus marking the first time where every NBA team would utilize their own G League affiliate during a season. Entering this season, the Suns are looking to improve upon their previous season's record of 49–33, which left them with a sixth-place finish in the Western Conference, as well as look to enter the playoffs for the fifth straight season after previously missing the playoffs for a decade straight and improve upon their first round sweeping exit from the last postseason.
