RAM Records is an independent record label established in 1992 by Andy C with the help of his friend Ant Miles. It specialises in drum and bass.
The label and business is run by Andy C and business partner Scott Bourne (Red One). [2] Ram Records is known for its label activities, the music it releases, and the artists it has signed over the years. [2] Moving Fusion's Turbulence was instrumental in moving RAM forward in the early 2000s and was the number one voted-for track in drum and bass at the Mercury Music Prize in 2000. As well as Ram's musical output, the label is also known for its club nights, the most famous of which started at the London nightclub 'The End', and lasted 11 years until the club's closure in December 2008. [3] Moving on from The End to super-club Matter in February 2009, Ram's attendees tripled from 1000 to over 3000 people within 2 months and lasted until Matter's closure in June 2010. [2] Ram's new home is Fabric nightclub in Farringdon, London.
In 2002 RAM launched a sister label called Frequency, and in 2012 a new label called PROGRAM was launched, specialising in different flavours of drum and bass compared to the signature sounds of RAM. The first PROGRAM release was "Firethorn / Pandorum" by Frankee. [4]
Some RAM signees have found chart success. Andy C, Chase & Status, René LaVice, Sub Focus and Wilkinson have all released singles through RAM which entered the UK Singles Chart. [5] [6] [7] [8]
Drum and bass is a genre of electronic dance music characterised by fast breakbeats with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, samples, and synthesizers. The genre grew out of the UK's jungle scene in the 1990s.

"Valley of the Shadows" is a song by English drum and bass duo Origin Unknown. Considered to be a highly influential jungle track, it was originally released as the B-side of "The Touch" before its re-release as a standalone single in 1996, both released on RAM Records. "Valley of the Shadows" proved a lot more popular than the A-side, "The Touch", and the single went on to become one of the label's best-selling releases.
Tom Casswell, better known as TC and also as Tommy Boy, is an English drum and bass producer, singer and DJ. He left school and started making music inspired by the sounds of the Bristol scene and the music and atmosphere of St. Paul's, the area of Bristol where he grew up.
Vive Le Rock is the third solo album by Adam Ant, released in September 1985, which contained two versions of Ant's 1984 song "Apollo 9".
Shimon Alcoby, who performs and records music as Shimon, is an English DJ, record producer, and founder of AudioPorn Records. Shimon is also affiliated with the drum and bass record label Ram Records, and has published music through Ram since its inception in 1992. Shimon is one third of Ram Trilogy, a collective which also includes Andy C and Ant Miles.
Nicolaas Douwma, better known by his stage name Sub Focus, is an English DJ, record producer, songwriter, musician and sound engineer. He has been releasing records since 2003. On 12 October 2009, he released his self-titled debut album. He released his second album, Torus, on 30 September 2013. Douwma's album in collaboration with Wilkinson titled Portals was released on 9 October 2020 through Casablanca Records. His fourth album, Evolve, was released on 12 May 2023.

He has released music on RAM Records and Hospital Records, as well as Virgin EMI. His 2013 single "Afterglow" with vocals by Becky Hill reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart on 20 October 2013.
Lazers Not Included is the debut studio album by British drum and bass record producer Wilkinson. The album was released on 28 October 2013 through RAM Records under license to Virgin EMI. The album includes the singles "Tonight", "Need to Know", "Take You Higher", "Heartbeat", "Afterglow", "Too Close" and "Half Light". The album has peaked at number 46 on the UK Albums Chart.
"Too Close" is a song by the British record producer Wilkinson, featuring vocals from Detour City. It was released on 23 February 2014, through RAM Records, as the fifth single from his debut album Lazers Not Included. The song has peaked at number 55 on the UK Singles Chart and number 14 on the UK Dance Chart. The release also included remixes of the track by Catching Flies, Wookie, Frankee and Askery.
Matt Quinn, known by his stage name Optical, is a British musician, producer and DJ. He is co-founder and owner of Virus Recordings, a widely regarded drum and bass record label. He is best known as one half of drum and bass duo Ed Rush and Optical, whose debut album Wormhole has been described as one of the most significant LPs of the drum and bass genre. He is also the brother of Jamie Quinn also known as Matrix.
