RD, also known as Ruff Diamondz, were a British girl group from London comprising Julie "Chronz" Norton, Martika Lecointe-Akore, and Troy Hudson.

The group were formed in 2009 when a manager introduced the members to each other via Myspace. They subsequently spent six months training in fitness, choreography, singing and styling before they performed live for the first time. [1] In September 2010, Ruff Diamondz released a mixtape titled The Intro of RD aka Ruff Diamondz, [2] followed by their debut single "Do It Like Me" in November 2010 via Polydor Records. They were profiled in The Guardian as the newspaper's "New Band of the Week" in October 2010. [3] Also during 2010, Ruff Diamondz toured the United Kingdom with JLS on their arena tour and N-Dubz on the MOBO Awards tour. [4]

By 2011, the group had officially changed their name to RD due to copyright issues. [5] They released their second single "Got Me Burnin'", co-written by Katy B and produced by Geeneus of Rinse FM, in October 2011. [6] The single was playlisted on BBC Radio 1 [7] and received favourable reviews from the Daily Star , Mixmag , MuuMuse, Popjustice, and The Singles Jukebox. [8] [9] [10] [11] Polydor dropped the group the same month, and in November 2011 they announced they had split up after Hudson decided to leave the group. [12]

Lecointe-Akore embarked on a solo career under the name Martika LA, releasing the single "Give Me Your Love" in 2012. [13]

Chemistry is the third studio album by English-Irish girl group Girls Aloud. It was released in the United Kingdom on 5 December 2005 by Polydor Records. After the success of What Will the Neighbours Say?, the album was again entirely produced by Brian Higgins and his production team Xenomania. Chemistry is a loose concept album which details celebrity lifestyle and "what it's like to be a twentysomething girl in London." A number of the songs avert the verse-chorus form typical of pop music.

"Wake Me Up" is a song recorded by British girl group Girls Aloud from their second studio album, What Will the Neighbours Say? (2004). It was released by Polydor Records on 21 February 2005, as the fourth and final single from the album. The song had been initially considered as the lead single, however, it was deemed to sound too harsh and the record company did not want to take the risk. The track was written by Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins, Tim Powell, Shawn Lee, Lisa Cowling, Paul Woods and Yusra Maru'e. "Wake Me Up" is a pop rock song composed of a "garage rock guitar riff". It received mixed reviews from music critics. While some described it as predictable, others wrote that it appeared to be an attempt to recapture the sound of some of their previous release. Alex Kapranos, the lead singer of indie rock band Franz Ferdinand, said "Wake Me Up" inspired the band to work with producer Brian Higgins.

"Biology" is a song performed by English-Irish all-female pop group Girls Aloud, taken from their third studio album Chemistry (2005). The progressive pop song was written by Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins and Higgins' production team Xenomania, and produced by Higgins and Xenomania. Composed of distinct sections, it avoids the verse-chorus form present in most contemporary pop music. "Biology" was released as a single in November 2005, ahead of the album's release. Following the disappointment of "Long Hot Summer", "Biology" returned Girls Aloud to the top five of the UK Singles Chart and became their tenth top ten hit.

Fascination Records is a United Kingdom-based record label, owned by Universal Music Group, and operated as an imprint of Polydor Records. The label was launched in spring of 2006, and is managed by former TOTP Magazine editor Peter Loraine.

Joshua Harvey, otherwise known as Hervé, is a producer/DJ from the UK. Hervé is known for bass-orientated as well as eclectic productions and DJ sets. He also runs the label Cheap Thrills, which has released music by Fake Blood, Jack Beats, Lone and Project Bassline, amongst others.

"Call the Shots" is a song by British-Irish girl group Girls Aloud from their fourth studio album, Tangled Up (2007). The song was written by Miranda Cooper, with inspiration from an article about the advance of women in business, and Brian Higgins, Tim Powell, Lisa Cowling, and Giselle Somerville also received songwriting credits. Polydor Records originally intended to release it the lead single for The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits (2006); however, "Something Kinda Ooooh" was selected instead. In September 2007, "Call the Shots" leaked online, and on 26 November of the same year, it was released as the second single from Tangled Up through Fascination Records, a week after the album's release.

<i>Uncle B</i> 2008 studio album by N-Dubz

Uncle B is the debut studio album released by British hip hop group N-Dubz. The album is dedicated to former N-Dubz manager and father of Dappy, Byron Contostavlos, who died shortly before the band were signed to their second record label All Around the World. It entered the official UK Albums Chart at number 11. On 6 January 2009 it was announced on the official All Around the World website that the album had gone platinum. Seven singles have been released from the album, with the first three being released by LRC, and the last four being released by All Around the World. The album was not released until in 2008, despite recording starting in 2006. This was due to the group changing record label from LRC to All Around the World.

On 16 May 2010 the single entered the UK Singles Chart at number 26, making it his first Top 40 hit.

"Lucky Day" is an upbeat pop song featuring synths; lyrically the song talks of a boy not succumbing to Roberts' advances but doing so eventually, although she stated the concept relates to all aspects of life and luckiness in general. Roberts' vocals have been compared to that of Liza Minnelli and the track has been compared to the music of David Guetta and the Katy Perry track "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)".
