RFA Montenol

Last updated

HMS Montenol was a Belgol-class tanker that was made in West Hartlepool, by William Gray & Company, in 1917. It was one of the three out of the ten tankers that had upright funnels with a single tall mast close by. The main mast was removed during World War II. [1] It had about 64 men as complement. It was sunk on 21 May 1942 by the German submarine U-159 on its way to Freetown, or sunk on 22 May 1942 by a corvette named HMS Woodruff.
