Rachel Catherine Roberts (born July 16,1973) is an American politician and businesswoman serving as a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives the first woman ever to hold the 67th district seat. Roberts assumed office on March 3,2020. In 2023,she became the Kentucky House Minority Whip,the fifth woman elected to House leadership in Kentucky history. She is not seeking reelection in 2024.
Roberts is a native of Cincinnati and moved to Colorado after graduating from high school. [1] She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing and business from Fort Lewis College and completed programs at the Harvard Kennedy School and Yale University. [2]
From 2004 to 2005,Roberts worked as a writer and photographer for a travel blog. From 2005 to 2007,she worked in marketing for the Aspen Skiing Company. Roberts then worked as a director at Timbers Resorts. In 2010,she founded the Yoga Bar. She also founded Bija Yoga School and operates a strategy firm. [3] Roberts was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives in a March 2020 special election. [4]
The Kentucky House of Representatives is the lower house of the Kentucky General Assembly. It is composed of 100 Representatives elected from single-member districts throughout the Commonwealth. Not more than two counties can be joined to form a House district,except when necessary to preserve the principle of equal representation. Representatives are elected to two-year terms with no term limits. The Kentucky House of Representatives convenes at the State Capitol in Frankfort.
The Kentucky Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is currently the minority party in the state,as the rival Republican Party of Kentucky overwhelmingly dominates in the state legislature,congressional delegation,and presidential elections. However,the party does currently control the governorship and lieutenant governorship,and maintains some strength in local elections.

Keturah Herron is an American politician from Kentucky. They are a Democrat and represent District 42 in the State House. When elected in 2022,they were the first out LGBTQ+ member in the Kentucky House of Representatives. They are only the second out member of the Kentucky General Assembly following Ernesto Scorsone,former state senator,who came out while in office in 2003. After Scorsone left the legislature in 2008,there was no LGBTQ+ representation in either chamber until Herron. Herron is also only the third Black woman to be in the Kentucky state legislature.
The 2022 Kentucky House of Representatives election was held on November 8,2022. The Republican and Democratic primary elections were held on May 17. All 100 seats of the house were up for election. Republicans increased their majority in the chamber,gaining five seats.
