Radio Nova (Finland)

Radio Nova is a radio channel in Finland. It was a major radio industry milestone when it launched in 1997, and at the time, Nova was the only national commercial broadcaster. It was formerly owned by Bonnier and Proventus. Radio Nova was sold to Bauer Media in December 2015.

Today, Nova is the most listened to commercial radio station in Finland with its 1,264,000 weekly listeners, reaching 25,6% of the population per week. [1] [2] It specializes in playing popular music for people aged 25–44 and has hourly news bulletins. Nova also has a very strong traffic image, as in addition to traffic announcements, it broadcasts a traffic-focused program on every Fridays and Sundays called Radio Nova Liikenteessä ("Radio Nova in Traffic"). Littoinen is a village in south-western Finland, centred on Lake Littoinen. The village is shared between the town of Kaarina and the municipality of Lieto, and it borders the regional centre of Turku. It started growing after the founding of a broadcloth factory by Lake Littoinen in 1739, and the railway connection built in 1899 increased its growth. In the 1960s the operations of the broadcloth factory were discontinued due to decreased demand, but the premises still exist and have been transformed into residential and commercial spaces. The factory's heritage is still visible in the village's place and street names.

Yle Vega is a Finnish radio channel broadcasting in the Swedish language. It is operated by Finland's national public service broadcaster Yle, and broadcast news, current affairs, culture and music targeting mature audiences, complements Yle's other Swedish-speaking service, Yle X3M which targets youth-audiences. It was launched in 1997, replacing Yle's previous full-network service for Swedish-speakers, Riksradion which was founded in 1961.

Yle Radio Suomi is a radio channel owned and operated by Finland's national public service broadcaster Yleisradio. The station's main focus is on music and sport, but it carries a variety of other programmes, including news and phone-ins, as well as up to eight hours a day of regional programming on weekdays. The channel is also noted for its live coverage of music festivals.

Vain elämää is the Finnish version of The Best Singers series broadcast on Finnish Nelonen commercial television channel fashioned on the successful Dutch series De beste zangers van Nederland. Each day, one artist would be chosen, and the remaining artists would perform covers of their songs and would be assessed by the original artist. The last day would be dedicated to duets of the most popular performances.

The Independence Day Reception is an annual event organised by the President of Finland at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki on 6 December, Finland's Independence Day. Finland originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Looking Back" written by Joonas Angeria, Whitney Phillips, Connor McDonough, Riley McDonough and Toby McDonough. The song was performed by Aksel Kankaanranta. The Finnish broadcaster Yleisradio (Yle) organised the national final Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2020 in order to select the Finnish entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Six entries were selected to compete in the national final on 7 March 2020 where the 50/50 combination of votes from eight international jury groups and votes from the public selected "Looking Back" performed by Aksel Kankaanranta as the winner.

The 13th season of The Voice of Finland started airing on January 19, 2024. Star coaches Elastinen and Maija Vilkkumaa continued from the previous season, and were joined by Sanni and Arttu Wiskari... The hosts for the 13th season are Heikki Paasonen and Jaana Pelkonen. The program is broadcast on TV in Finland to the channel Nelonen and is available through the Ruutu+ subscription service. Parts of the show are posted to YouTube as well. The season consists of four different phases; the Blind Auditions, Battles, Knock-Outs and Live broadcasts. "The Cut" from the previous season has been omitted.
